i rate Lara the best since bradman overall but his record in india isn't great - ave 33 from 3 tests, Sri Lanka however he loves averaging 100 there.
Yes, so much better than his countrymen Headley, Weekes and Sobers, who had higher averages in days when batting was generally more difficult.

Even two wouldnt be enough. I think about 4 people are in line to eat at least one each and he himself must be due for about half a dozen :-O
What you need to think about is how many times I've said it and been right.

and you will not find many people supporting your preference for Walcott over Lara.

Is not what?

Maybe not, but IMO he was quite a bit better player and the reason most people prefer Lara is because of the usual most-recent-is-best-remembered syndrome.

Not to mention the one or two things that Lara has accomplished. No doubt Walcott was a fine player, but he always had fine batsmen around him. Lara hasn't had those calibre of batsmen around him for most of his career. Such equals more pressure upon Mr. Lara. Though pressure doesn't come into the cricketing equation, does it? Oops.

That last part was tongue in cheek for the record.

Notice the supposedly?
Anyone in their right mind could see I'm not actually making the promise. 8-)
(BTW, this isn't sarcastic, it's just ironic)

Nonetheless if you weigh-up the plusses and minuses IMO Walcott had more disadvantages than Lara.
And he still ended-up with an average considerably higher than Lara's at present.
BTW, while I do actually think Walcott was a better player, I was actually meaning Weekes while saying Walcott.
So for Walcott read Weekes.

Or rather you all knew, in your heart of hearts, that I was not saying that I would eat my computer, but rather using that great tack of metaphors.

Well I for one genuinely expected you should eat your computer as such sayings arose from a person being so sure of something that they'd bet anything on it. Sort of in the 'and I'm the Queen of England' vein. That said, I never expected you would.
