They don’t go there to live. I mean, come on.

But they go to visit for whatever reason. Can’t work it out.

I think it makes them feel better about themselves, going to India and looking at the people there. It's sadistic.

It depends on how good one is as a spin bowler; how well one bowls to people can play spin.

A good one like Benaud would enjoy it thoroughly: 52 wickets @18.38, SR 56.7, WPM 6.5

For someone like Warne, staying at home would be a lot better: 34 wickets @43.11, SR 81.0, WPM 3.8

Nah the people I know who’ve been there talk about going to ****ing ashrams and being spiritual ffs (it is the inner west though). I suspect there’s some school of thought that if you go somewhere and observe, among other things, abject poverty then it somehow makes you empathetic. Really, it just makes you a wanker.

I shouldn’t put a blanket ban on the joint though. As you all know, I spent a few years in Mumbai in the 90s where Sachin and I used to catch up for lunch. I’d also like to go to the Himalayan foothills.

Not all of India is like Chennai. Thank dog.

Forgive me but has 10 pages of the Warne/Murali debate again got to do with Ashwin and the fantasy he may reach 800 wickets?

You should watch Wild Wild Country on Netflix.

Might give you some culture in the process.

Ashwin is irrelevant: he can never reach that 800 wickets mark. For that matter, Warne too is irrelevant: that magic number is totally beyond him now.
The only one who is relevant in this debate is Murali; but he is already there.

Thanks, I will take a look at this. Cult documentaries are always bizarre and fascinating.
