Hmmm..... I would rate both of them very close... Let's use how they fare against each other as the tie breaker!

Let's use their performance against each other as tie breaker then!!
This was an easy one before I saw this, lol

I think I made a post a few days ago where both of them were among the most overs rated players ever, With the opinion that Warne was definitely no. 1.

Both are between 7 and 8 in my all time bowler and batsmen rankings , both were touched by genius. Think Lara was better, Warne more consistent.

So Warne? He did have his batting, Lara was way better at 1st slip.

I voted for Lara because I'm completely biased but both are about even imo. Shane would make more atg XIs for the simple fact that realistically, he's only competing with Murali for the spinners spot. Lara is (imo) competing with Viv, Steve Smith, Sachin, Ponting, Kallis, Greg, Hammond, Headley for the 4 and 5 spot (3 is for the Don and 6 is for sir Gary).

Both have flawed records curiously against the same opposition ie India and both reached dizzying heights. I'd say it's a virtual tie. As much as Warne would be remembered for allegedly making spin (leg spin) ***y again, Lara has to be remembered for his 2 world records (375 and 400*) etc.

Yeah, I can't decide, most of Lara's iconic innings came vs Warne, but Warne was one of one as the greatest leggie ever.

I'll leave it to the community.

I think Lara was better, Warne was greater.. but the poll asks for better 🤷🏽‍♂️

I've often said that as his best, no one touches BCL. He just wasn't there as consistently.

Lara is better marginally. He is tied with Sobers, and only behidn Viv, Sachin and Hobbs, and very very close to Viv. Warne is behind Murali, Marshall, Mcgrath, Imran, Hadlee, Steyn, Ambrose, and not a good prospect for the top 3/4 atleast. More plausible to make a case for Lara as the best after Bradman

Warne. Made the hardest craft in the game to render with any degree of consistency fun and a legitimate weapon again. Brought total theater to cricket, made each ball an event, and all the other cliches you can make because they're all so damned true.

So explain this to me. In another thread you argued that it's not close between Sachin and Warne yet here you say Warne is more accomplished than Lara. And everyone agrees lara and Sachin are also close.
Sure. 'Not close' is relative.

Tendulkar is no.2 bat of all time.

Lara is no.7/8.

Warne is the best spinner ever.

Yeah so more of a gap between Lara and Tendulkar than Warne and Lara.
