If you extrapolate Sanga's career as a pure bat he is only behind Bradman and Sobers
If you extrapolate Sanga's career as a keeper bat he is on par or even above Gilchrist.

Now take a breath and consider. He is top 10 test players ever seen.
Those would be Imran. Sobers, Bradman, Kallis, Marshall, McGrath, Hadlee, Murali and Gilchrist

The premise on the forum seems to be that I've designated that he's an ATG, it that I alone place him as a contender for AT teams.

He's an established ATG regardless of how much the people here want to believe he's not.

He was the best bat in the world for longer than most, and in fact the vast majority of cricketers have never had that distinction, and certainly not for 5 or 6 years.

I also don't assume I know everything and read everything I can get my hands on. I listen to posters and former players, not only online but thankfully in real life. I'm not trying to create something, like Luffy and Flower a few weeks ago. The guy was an ATG.
Why is Barry an ATG and Proctor not an ATG?

@JBMAC sorry to drag you in but did you see much of Barrington?
Never had the chance to as i am fairly sure he never played at The Gabba. (Maybe some smart computer person can find that out) He did score at least 2 100s against us though in 65/66 Both at the MCG.

Why is Barry an ATG and Proctor not an ATG?
Firstly, because Barry Richards has the 12th highest Test batting average of all time:

while Mike Procter has only the 61st lowest Test bowling average of all time:

Lowest Test bowling averages.JPG

Secondly, Procter with 41 wickets in 7 Tests has a worse WPM than Imran in the WI where Imran took 48 wickets in 8 Tests (as I'm sure you know, Subsz!!!).

Thirdly, @kyear2's position on Barry Richards might simply be his trying to stop the escalation of yet more civil unrest in SA:

I don’t think you need too much to spark violence in South Africa tbf

I’m surprised you hadn’t heard. South Africa is one of the most violent and dangerous places in the world. (imo India shouldn’t tour there either if they’re so worried about Pakistan) For example, USA has ~340 million people. South Africa has ~63 million. From the last data I can find, South Africa had 27k murders in 2022 and the US had 20k in 2023. Amongst all countries with a million people only Jamaica and Ecuador have greater rates of murder. Hotbed for violent crime in general and organised crime to boot.

I'm aware, just don't think it was the best subject to joke about.
