ive had another great idea!
players with bowling stats u pick up, fair enough, ur own fault imo...
however if you get a rookie whos a gun batsman and u dont want him to bowl, cause quite often they have 5 or 6 opm with dreaful strike rates and eco's, i think the person receiving the rookie should have the choice to have his bowling stats deleted...
That's a good idea. Given, he's your rookie. So in real life you could jsut say we don't want you to bowl because you suck.

Considering that it's been stated more than once that you can choose your bowling order and who you don't want to bowl, managers should be able to choose which players in their squad should have their bowling stats deleted BEFORE the season starts!

yeh, but even if u set someone as bowler 11 and someone else as bowler 3, if the guy set as bowler 11 has more opm he will bowl first and a lot more...

I say DELETE all bowling stats of any players that a manager doesn't want bowling. That will overcome the problem.

But what if that player is traded or sent to the draft and another manager wants that player to bowl.

That's life! I'm talking about players with absurdly high strike rates (eg, 65+ in FC, 50+ in OD) and absurdly high economy rates (eg, 4+ in FC, 6+ in OD).
You've got to be either mental or desperate if you want such players to bowl! :p

The point is that myself and a few others understood that the sim worked this way, BUT it was stated otherwise and this has led to confusion.

If the blokes got bowling stats then he bowls - that's always been the way, and I see no reason for it to change.

And before anyone jumps on me, I have a bowler with a very good S/R but only 1 OPM and also a batsman with a bad S/R but 8 OPM.

Those stats were known before the person was picked up, so get over it.

There's nothing for me to get over as I've known how the sim works all along. Most people were misinformed though, so I guess I'm sticking up for them!
I still say that your avatar suits you mate - you're a real sour one at times! :p 8-)

The fact of the matter is if you have enough bowlers in your side then then crappy bowler "Should not" bowl...

Last season i had a crappy bowler who had a pretty bad S/R however cause i had enough good bowlers he rarely bowled...

The way you guys are talking it sounds like a crap bowler with 7 or 8 overs is CERTAIN to bowl, even if you have him at 11 on the bowling order and have 5 or 6 other bowlers with 8+ overs. Yet a few of you, like Blewy, have said something quite different. Which is true?

I don't think it's been a major problem for anybody, so it's probably not worth worrying about to be honest.
Just sort your bowling order according to the instructions given at the time and you should be fine!

hmmm, having player bowl who you'd rather not have bowl kinda means that you lose a certain amount of control of your team. even if the game is stats based. don't we want to see a certain amount of realism?

I can see where others are coming from, but when it comes to the crunch this is a CRICKET game...and we want realism...is a captain more likely to bowl a guy who was 8 opm with a sr of 70 or a guy who has 5 opm with a sr of 29? I know who I would choose...

i have a guy who is a decent OD bat(36 ave) but will probaly never get a run because he averages a full 10 OPM and has a SR of 50 with a ECO of 6.61, the question i ask myself is why would someone average 10 OPM when they are bowling that badly ?

You can also look at it the other way... A guy might not have a great S/R but if a team is struggling and the top liners aint getting wickets then a captain may well go to a guy like nibbs player....

This is an argument which will never be solved due to such different opinions...

Like i said before most cases the guy will not bowl, the only time he will is if you have a lack of bowlers in your team...
