I picked up a player in the draft. Now he's a good one day batsmen with an average of 44. However, the one thing I forgot to take into account was the 7 overs per match he bowls, with a strike rate of 57, and an economy rate of 4.9. Now in theory I don't want him to bowl. I know the captain certainly wouldn't either. so what i'm asking is, is there a way to make him not bowl at all. apparently with those stats he will no matter what.

nah you just put him down the bottom of your bowling order, like 9 or something and put your batsmen who dont bowl at 8 :) he shouldn't bowl too much

I'm in a similar situation (first class though). I have a batsman who has 25opm with a s/r of 70 something, but I put him at 11 and he still bowls a load of overs.

erm marc, the thing is if you've got better bowlers, there isn't much point of having such crap bowlers bowl. the captain wouldn't want them to bowl either, so should they bowl???

If the stats mean they bowl then they bowl - you need to decide if it's worth picking the player in the first place otherwise.

I ppicked up a similar player in Round 5, but if he bowls, so be it - had he not got the bowling stats he'd likely have been picked up by someone else.

I tried to warn people about this last year, but few would believe me! Last draft I selected players considering this factor, this time round I didn't bother. It might come back to bite me!

as far as realism goes, surely we should be able to have some say in this matter. in my team there are 5 or 6 bowlers far better than the the crap i don't want to bowl. if it were a proper game of cricket, the captain would never use this bowler. seem kinda ridiculous that he should have to bowl when clearly no one wants him to...

Stats will only be removed if a player has 0 overs per match but has a S/R & E/R...

i remember back in season 4 there were weather conditions. the settings were unfair and gave certain teams advantages over others. i was told it was like this because everyone apparently wanted more realism in the game and how important this was. this is a touch unrealistic if you ask me and well, rather stupid

If you have 5 good OD bowlers with 8 or more overs per match, surely they should just bowl 10 each? Especially if they are the first 5 on your bowling order?

Yes they would! Likewise a bowler with the same OPM hgiher on the order would probably bowl 10, particularly if this guy is put at #11!

In which case there's no guarantee you'd have got the player.

The fact is that his bowling stats are there, so you have to accept that he'll bowl - it's part of taking the rough with the smooth.

no marc, not that. the fact that i can't chose whether he actually bowls or not. his stats say so, but even then shouldn't i be able to stop him???

No, the game is stats based, and all the stats count.

You can't make a bowler with only 2 overs but a good S/R bowl more, so why shoulf you make a bowler with a lot of overs bowl less?

You have to take the rough with the smooth.

ive had another great idea!
players with bowling stats u pick up, fair enough, ur own fault imo...
however if you get a rookie whos a gun batsman and u dont want him to bowl, cause quite often they have 5 or 6 opm with dreaful strike rates and eco's, i think the person receiving the rookie should have the choice to have his bowling stats deleted...
