They always used to say to be effective seam bowler in NZ, you had to bowl over 125kmp/h consistantly or be able to move the ball around.

Fidel Edward can get it up to 154.
Yes, but he lacks accuracy and hence he's not yet a Test standard bowler.
You always have to move the ball around to be an effective bowler, Craig, you know that.
Presumably the "used to" refers to the fact that seam is this season more difficult to bowl than it used to be.

surprisingly, klusener has been timed at 154. back in 96 he was considered as quick as donald
Zulu and AD were absolutely ripsnorting in the mid-late nineties.. Sad to see that Lance now just bowls slow off cutters. In one day cricket anyway..

Once edwards gets his arm up higheraccuracy will come IMO.

And he will lose some of the surprise factor, unpredictability and swing that makes him what he is..

Accuracy will come with one thing - practice.
And even then, like us all, there is a limit to how accurate he can be. We won't know that until he starts putting the work in that, by common report, few West Indians presently are.

He will also (if he is not careful) lose the one thing which makes him truly special - pace.

His speed comes from his 'slingy' action - very like Thommo, but obviously a little more accentuated.

If he could improve his timing (and this will only come with experience), there's no real reason for him to try to get his arm much higher. His bouncer is absolutely superb because it doesn't bounce that high - he delivers a wicked throat ball.

The biggest thing Fidel Edwards needs at the moment is someone good at the other end.

Edwards has a lot of time left in his career. Keep in mind that he's played most of his FC cricket in the Test arena. I think that if we can get our players fit and get the selection right, we can have a decent pace attack within the next 2 to 3 years.

That said, I don't think Lawson (possibly Taylor too) will ever be as good as he could have been.

Even that won't make him any better.
His action is a combination of Thommo and Lillee - very uncanny.
Just a shame he can't get Lillee's accuracy. He's got Thommo's speed and the swing they both possessed. If he had Lillee's accuracy he'd be almost as good as Malcolm Marshall, already.

Give him time...

I can't give him that - but fortunately he's got it anyway, he's only 21(?)
He'll probably improve if given the right coaching and training.
But IMO playing Tests and ODIs is counter-productive at this stage.
