It's more important, but Trumper opened mostly in his peak, in the FC games and was rated as the best batsman mainly as an opener.
He opened and batted in the middle order throughout his entire career you nutjob. I’ve already explained this to you previously in another thread.

Yes, and he opened more than not. Opening wasn't so special pre WWI to begin with.

Usually your posts are a good read but on this topic you’re deliberately being as ignorant and biased as certain posters are all the time or when talking about allrounders vs bowlers.

Simpson opened more often than Trumper did. And did far better as an opener than Trumper did. But that doesn’t fit your narrative of ermahgerd Trumper. So yeah, done with this.

You know what, You probably are right..... I don't know why but I feel after reading a short biography of his and how he was rated back then; I really am overrating Trumper. One point for me is ofcourse that I put much less emphasis on Stats and more on peer ratings for Pre WWI players than post ones; like really much, because the game was quite different back then and stats can convey only certain things. But all things considered, he really is not an opening batsman as good as Simpson, statistically at least by far.
