Well, yes. I did say "with good cause", didn't I? ;)

a test hundred,141 dissmissals and an average of nearly 31 he should be considered as one of the greats of the position.Saw him at the Gabba in 1963 in the twilight of his career and he looked solid behind the stumps and knocked up a quick sixty odd as well
Thanks. Newsreel footage of the South African greats of yore is extremely hard to come by (even for a South African), so insights such as that one are always appreciated.

and how old are you may i ask JBMAC sir?

It has been said that "you are only as old as the woman you feel"

BTW I am considerably older than SJS and old enough to be Fiery's Father...as a matter of fact my eldest lad is two years older than Fiery.

Boucher's list of records includes most dismissals in test cricket, fastest to 100 dismissals in test matches, highest score by a night watchman, most innings without conceding a bye and 75 consecutive test matches.

Him and Pat Symcox put on a record 195 for the ninth wicket against Pakistan and he hit an unbeaten 147 off 68 balls against Zim. His 100 came off 48 balls, the 2nd fastest ODI century.

I'm pretty sure that soon after Boucher broke the record for fastest to 100 dismissals in Test matches, Gilly took it straight off him by doing it a Test or two faster.

His record of most dismissals in Tests is a worthy one, though hardly surprising given the number of Tests he's played. Gilly will probably take it off him during the Australian summer (in fewer Tests) though Boucher's age advantage means he'll probably end up with the final record when he retires.

His highest score by a nightwatchman (I didn't know he ever held that record at all TBH) has been well and truly beaten by Dizzy's double ton.

Boucher still holds said record in Tests involving Test-class teams though.

Gillespie's innings broke a number of "Test" records, none of which were worth the paper they were printed on.

Obviously, though, the same applies to Boucher's fastest "ODI" century. And he was dropped something like 5 times too.

So, um...Boucher reached 100 Test dismissals against teams other than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in fewer Tests than Gilly did against the same opposition...?

Not sure TBH. I don't tend to care greatly for fastest-to-X-dismissals things - says as much if not more about the bowlers than the wicketkeeper.

Gilchrist has hardly played any games against substandard Test sides and Boucher hasn't played an excessively large number, so I doubt the figures of either are affected remarkably.

Fair enough, I thought that was Boucher/Gilly record you were talking about in your previous post.

I respect Boucher's keeping but as a batsman he has been just about decent at the test level, but Gilly has been extraordinary and as a combination of a wicket-keeper and a batsman he is miles ahead of rest of his competiton.
