Personally, I think it's expected of the side that has ambitions to be #1 to tie a series away from home even with an understrength attack. I just disagreed with it being a monumental achievement.
I am personally disappointed with the 1-1 result. a tie is not good enough, especially in sri lanka where we have won a series before. a similar achievement in SA or Australia would be acceptable. But even then, only a series win should give happiness to true supporters.

I don't mind the 1-1 result. It was a 2-1 loss last time round. It's not as great an improvement over the last result as expected or wished for, but given the resources at hand, it's very acceptable, and a definite improvement.

And tbf, it was in reality a 2 test series. There was absolutely no chance of a result on that 2nd test wicket.

I voted for SA but only because I was probably overcome by a wave of bias at the moment.:)

Tbh, I don't think any team could lay claim to being best in the world at the moment in the Test format, even though SA, India and Aus would all come close to that title.
SA has had a wobbly ride in Tests over the past two years, being absolutely brilliant in one season, but have been ordinary in the recent one. They couldn't win against either England or India and a win against the Windies I don't rate very much.
India needs to play on pitches outside the subcontinent more to determine where they stand. Regarding Aus, they haven't been very successful in Tests either of late.

I'm actually satisfied with this; all teams struggling for the top spot makes for some interesting competition in Tests.

Well that was my first post then. 8-)
