Basically i've ignored his under-30 plea because it seemed a bit too tailor made so he could squeeze Klinger in there imo:p made it under 32, lol :)

2. Brodie (22) - 402 runs @ 44.66
3. Broom (26) - 566 runs @ 94.33

Actually it was so that I could squeeze Dussy out...but never mind, I'll retract the under 30 stipulation :)

1. Marsh
2. Klinger
3. Khawaja
4. Cosgrove
5. Hussey
6. Bailey
7. Paine
8. Noffke
9. Magoffin
10. Nannes
11. Cameron

I decided not to base mine solely on five rounds of cricket. That's assuming everyone's at full fitness by the way, which to be fair is a mythical state of existence for three members of my bowling attack. I considered Nick Jewell heavily as well but I didn't really know who to leave out of that top six so I just shunted Klinger and Marsh up to open.

1. Klinger (3504 runs @ 41.22)
2. Khawaja (1136 runs @ 47.33)
3. Marsh (3232 runs @ 36.31, 726 runs @ 40.33 in ODI's)
4. Dussey (10462 runs @ 55.06, 598 runs @ 28.47 in ODI's)
5. Cosgrove (5139 runs @ 43.18)
6. Ferguson (2842 runs @ 35.08, 599 runs @ 46.07 in ODI's)
7. Hartley (2342 runs @ 31.22 + 243 dismissals)
8. Noffke (384 wickets @ 28.98 + 3695 runs @ 26.97)
9. Hastings (35 wickets @ 20.77 + 184 runs @ 26.28)
10. Magoffin (201 wickets @ 28.99)
11. Nannes (93 wickets @ 25.02)
12th man. Smith (507 runs @ 46.09 + 11 wickets @ 75.18)

Lacking openers. Maybe Ryan Broad or Tim Paine can play, but I can't see who Broad would overtake in the top 6, and Hartley > Paine.

Ferguson over Cosgrove surely. While i'd suggest Ben Edmondson over Cameron, but its close between them i guess.

We are talking about the Ben Edmondson who has not bowled a ball for WA this season? And bowled utter tripe in 2008/2009 in all formats.

Oh my he feel of that bad, well keep Cameron then admittedly i haven't followed his progress in a while. Although i've always had a soft spot for Damien Wright seeing him in county cricket a few years back..

If Hadding gets an injury Paine would surely has to be his replacement now in the test XI.

Hmm, I'll have a go at this without trying to think about it too much. Also assuming this is for a potential test team.

Joe Denly
Michael Carberry
Joe Sayers
Ed Joyce*
James Taylor
Adil Rashid
Steven Davies+
Glenn Chapple
Naqaash Tahir
Steve Kirby
Steven Finn

I think a team such as that put out in a test would comfortably beat Zimbabwe and Bangladesh (though probably a bit closer in Bangla) and be reasonably competitive against West Indies and New Zealand, and possibly Pakistan depending on what type of day they were having at the time, but not have much of a chance against the stronger teams.

Pretty much shows how crap ENGs depth is ATM. I would be tempted to put Boyd Rankin in that XI already. Plus maybe James Hildereth (spell check) over Rashid to bat @ # 6. But overall its this gash..

Considered Hildreth and also Alex Gidman in the middle order over either Sayers, whom I like as a player but had a fairly average 2009, hopefully he bounces back this summer, or Taylor as he is so young and has only played one real season. But yes it does demonstrate that England's depth in the batting especially is very poor (though do bear in mind that Bopara is excluded from this exercise and I still think he has a test future).

To be honest, the only players in that XI I selected that I would say are more likely than not to receive a test cap at some point in their career are Carberry (if only because the selectors have now clearly displayed he is next in line), Rashid and Davies.

I'd definitely pick Samit Patel. He didn't have a great time of it last season but he's a quality cricketer.

You haven't missed much with Cameron, because he's basically been out injured for a year. He's the sort of bowler I think you'd like if you got a good look at him because he really looks like a Test bowler. Tall, bowls outswingers, has a strong action and generates genuine heat at times - a slightly quicker version of Hilf who swings the ball a little less but a lot later. He's not the most accurate bowler going I suppose but he's not Shaun Tait either. His main problem is his inability to keep fit.
