"Best ever" teams selected by former players or experts- whose is best?

I realise that a bowling attack of Marshall-Lillee-Hadlee-Barnes-Warne-Sobers is pretty tasty, but I'd be inclined to leave one of them out for the sake of a 'keeper.

If Sobers decided to keep no doubt he'd be the best of all time.

Ganguly's All Time India Test and ODI XIs:

Test: Sunny | Sehwag | Dravid | Tendulkar | Ganguly/Viswanath | Dhoni | Kapil | Kumble | Srinath | Harbhajan | Zaheer
ODI: Tendulkar | Ganguly | Sehwag | Kohli | Dravid | Yuvraj | Dhoni | Kapil | Jadeja | Kumble/Srinath | Zaheer

Deft touch to put himself in both sides.

Found one more team if Fred does select one, but that would cause a tie between Akram and Barnes. That would cause me to find a tie breaker.
Will probably just wait for Fred.

I've not actually thought about this exercise very much before, however resisting the temptation to pick Sylvers, Lol, Napper, Compo, and to find a place for DRJ as captain I'd go for

Barry Richards
Hutton
Bradman
Tendulkar
Lara
Sobers
Knott
Hadlee
Marshall
Warne
Laker

I have always believed that when selecting an ATG XI one should select a bowler from the Sub Continent who excelled in those conditions (and outside of the SC as well) and also bowlers from different eras as well, which is one reason I select Imran and also wouldn't use any more than two of Imran, Hadlee, Lillee or Marshall. Test cricket has endured more than 100 years, all of the fast bowlers shouldn't be from the same 10 year period.

For me Akram and Barnes are both flawed candidates for reasons I have frequently mentioned, but if the team selection is not restricted to Test match performances but also factors in First Class and ODI performances he (Grace and Barry Richards) have a good a case as any and as such would merit his selection. It would also make Sachin and IVA unquestioned selections (for me) as well. When one looks at what skills the individual brings to the table as well I then believe that Wasim's magic deliveries and reverse swing (and added batting prowess) would be a better selection that Barnes and his fast finger sun deliveries on modern pitches.

Thoughts?

When I was your age the last line of that was the only bit that would have made any sense

Barnes and Lillee to open in the first innings; Lillee and Marshall in the second. Gives a somewhat best-of-both-worlds scenario. Two spinners in the second innings. I would prefer Imran though.

This wasn't his best ever team. It was his "entertainers" team.

I'd say he didn't pick Bradman because he doesn't like him much.
