The WI attacks are clearly the best. Yes, they lacked a spinner, but that didnt stop them from winning in Pakistan in 1980 and India is 1983. And its not just the pace. Each of their pacers had something unique to make it difficult to adjust and unrelenting in their application. Roberts with his two bouncers, Holding with his sheer speed, Garner with his bounce/yorkers, Croft with his awkwards action, etc.

Holding was also famous for his kicking skills and Croft for using his shoulders!
Croft probably should've been banned for life.

Well he seems to have forgotten Hurst and Higgs who supported Hogg mighty well in that series. There's your trio and the side was still obliterated. Anand is really responsible for some turgid bits of analysis like the time he'd have us believe that someone like Waqar was more dangerous at the end of his career due to his portfolio of wickets which were actually more impressively obtained at the beginning of his career. I think his work is deliberately dense to impress the reader by overwhelming him and bore his critics off the scent.

West Indies of 80s. Greatest bowling attack assembled to play for a team. Marshall-Garner-Holding-Roberts combination the most ferocious.

The SA attack in 1970 was pretty decent, what with the arrival of Proctor alongside the more established guys.

And the Aus attack in the early 1920's was pretty formidable.

Pakistan in the 1990's wasn't bad - W & W at the peak of their powers, Aquib as a decent third seamer and Mushtaq as the more than handy spin option.

England's best attack in my life-time was in 1977 - Willis and Underwood at their peak, Botham taking fivefers for fun and very good support cast in Hendrick, Old and Greig.

Not saying any of the above belong in the top 3, but worthy of a mention imo.
