Only series having atleast 5 matches have been considered. Only series before 2015 ODI WC have been considered

How about the 2002 India v England series? It finished 3-3 when Flintoff bowled Srinath with 5 runs needed to take the series, prompting that infamous shirt swirling celebration that riled Ganguly so much!! Pretty certain there had been other close games in the series (I know England won one of them by 2 runs).

Yeah , a very good series. Thanks for reminding.

The 2007 game series in NZ is like when you're a teenager and feeling sorry for your 9 year old brother so you say you'll play X box with him then your girlfriend comes over and you do it with 1 hand distracted, and after about 5 minutes leave entirely to play her X box instead and while you're gone he wins and celebrates it for the next 20 years

Re NZ and Australia, think of a story in which there is a big, dumb, older brother and a more talented, quick witted, better looking and charming younger brother who ends up getting the girl. The big brother is jealous of the little brother

The 5 match Eng v NZ 2008 series was pretty good.

Game 1: England won with KP bringing out some switch hits.

Game 2: NZ was thrashing England but rained out no result.

Games 3 - 5:

NZ won all 3. There was the controversial Sidebottom - Elliott (Collingwood) run out in one of the games too in what was a good game.

NZ 3- 1 winners

I couldn't tell you anything else about that series apart from the run out incident. It annoyed me at the time and didn't feel right. And as it turned out, all it did was inspire those in the black shirts. Dumb on all parts.

Out of those above, I only really recall the SA V Aus 2006 series because it seemed utterly insane any team could score 400+ at the time. Now, if not de rigeur, it is not especially uncommon.

As a biased NZ fan some of my favourites:

The 92/93 Aus v NZ (Aus win 3-2). Australia won the first two then NZ won games 3 and 4 with Crowe getting 91 in both wins. Jeff Wilson played a blinder in the 4th game and hit the winning runs. The series came down to Chris Pringle needing to hit a six off the last ball at Eden Park against Merv Hughes which was a bridge too far.

End of an era for NZ Cricket as Warren Lees was dumped at the end of the season and Crowe would soon relinquish the captaincy due to his knee problems.

India v NZ in 93/94 (2 all). NZ won the first game and Fleming got 90 on debut and Danny Morrison took a hat-trick. India came back and won games 2 and 3. I went to the game at Eden Park where Tendulkar hit 82 off 49 opening the batting which was an outrageous strike rate in that era. Probably the best innings I've seen live. NZ won the last game with Shane Thomson and the recalled Adam Parore putting on a big partnership.

England v NZ 1987/88 (2 all). The last time NZ wore the beige. Greatbatch took one of the great catches at 23.45.

NZ v South Africa 1998/99 (SA won 3-2). Dion Nash captained as Fleming was returning from injury. Klusener and Astle in career best form. Astle also took one of the great outfield catches in game 4 that SA won with 2 wickets to spare. I remember Chris Harris coming out to bat to Eye of the Tiger at Eden Park.

Aus v NZ 97/98 (2 all). Mark Priest got recalled at Eden Park, Llorne Howell got a half century and NZ pulled off an unlikely win to square the series. Aus won the first two games and Gilchrist looked unstoppable. Fleming and McMillan put on a big partnership to get up and win the 3rd ODI.
