best ball ever?

The Gatting ball is pretty hard to go past, not only for what a cracker of a delivery it was, the quality of the player it beat, but also because of the stage, the fact it was the first ball by Warne in Ashes in England, and of course Gatting's reaction.

Maybe the bouncer legend has Spoffoth putting through Dr Grace's beard on its way to the keeper during the game that saw the birth of the Ashes?

I don't like to play favourites with them, but I like "Leftie" more than "Rightie"..

Anyway - back on topic.

Sir Richard Hadlee's ball to Steve Waugh during the 1985/86 series. Anyone who has seen highlights will know which one I'm talking about.

Well over the past 10 years or so some of the best deliveries i have heard of and seen would range from:

1.the Gatting ball

2.the strauss ball

3.the ball that Murali bowled to Dhoni

4.the jaw-dropping yorkers that Akhtar bowled to Tendulkar & Dravid in Kolkatta along with his fantastic delivery to bowl Ponting in the super-challenge 2 series in 2002.

5.Flintoff's delivery to Ponting at Edgbaston,

6.McGrath ball to Lara here at OT in the 99 WC,

7.Warne's ball to Gibbs in the 99 WC

8. Jones ball to Clarke here at OT

Waqar younis to Brian Lara

Lara ended up on the ground... that delivery made him look absolutely lost

Very rarely do you see a player of Lara's calibre get beaten and destroyed so comprehinsively.

Agree with this.

Another Pakistani classic was Wasim to Dravid in Chennai (can't remember when).
He set him up with a beaut inswinger that was plumb but not given, followed it up with a fantastic outswinger that started outside leg and took the top of off stump.
