Who would win if 10/11 England played 05 England?
Or 13/14 Australia v 06/07 Australia?
You wouldn't bet against any team with McGrath and Warne in it.

For England. You'd think the 10/11 team would just grind the 05 team into dust because the batting was so strong, everyone was in form and the bowling attack were certainly capable of taking 20 wickets. The 05 bowling attack was excellent though, the spinner wasn't very good but four varied pace bowlers, and England didn't do very well against South Africa in 2012.

Big gap between 06/07 Australia and 2013/14 Australia. The latter had Johnson and the rest of the bowling attack firing on all cylinders but their batting was very unconvincing. Haddin had to keep digging them out of a hole.

Agree......06/07 by far the better team but 13 Johnson is ripping apart any line-up including the Aussie greats at the end of their careers. Interesting one this actually.

I'd go with England 10-11 for the Swann, Bell and Prior factors who were infinitely better than their 2005 versions.

England v S Africa this century has been weird. I'm thinking Cronje is the last SA skipper to win a home series, whilst Root was the first to do it for England.

I think Warne and Flintoff 2005 efforts are the best over last 20 years

Warne:
249 runs @ 27.66 and 40 wkts @ 19.92

Flintoff:
402 runs @ 40.20 and 24 wkts @ 27.29

I think the other 2 crazy standouts you could throw in too would be Cook 10/11 and Smith 19. If you're averaging over 100 you're doing something right.

Mitchell Johnson 2013/14
165 runs @ 27.50 and 37 wickets at 13.97

That said as good as he was in 2013/14 I'd probably go with Ryan Harris for the Australian side. He was always good. Even the 2010/11 Ashes when Australia forgot how to cricket.
