i like shots with timing such as Off or Straight Drives

im not a fan of slogging much, saying that i am a bit of a slogger myself, and those 3rd man shot things(where you just stick your bat in the way) ther clever (most of the time) but it doesnt float my boat!!!

Leg glance can go anywhere on the on-side in my books. It's just opinion though.

If a leg-glance is played properly, it can never go front of the wicket.
If it goes to the front of the wicket, its always a leading edge.

What would you called it then when a player hits a half volley on leg-stump through mid-wicket? Hint: It's not a a drive.

How about calling it a flick? Most shots like that going square of the wicket on the leg side would be called flicks. I only really consider it a leg glance if it goes towards the fine leg area, the batsman mostly using the pace of the ball to send it to the fence. If its hit square or into the midwicket region I would consider it a flick. Anything hit fairly straight to the mid on region keeping the full face of the bat behind the ball would be considered an on drive. Still doesn't account for the gray area with shots like KP's clip through the straight midwicket/wide mid on region.

It's not a leg-glance either if that's what you think. A leg-glance is a deflection where the ball ends up at fine-leg. Anything forward of the wicket would be more an on-drive or a flick I guess but there isn't really a term to describe that. Definitely not a leg-glance though

I'd say you can envelop the On-Drive into that sort of shot.

It's hard to categorise, though - just "the mid-wicket flick" is about as accurate as you can be.

i really dont have a favourite shot basically cause i like most of them

however, my least favourite shot is the lofted backward square on-drive..

just kidding like i said i love a shot that comes off the middle and timed to perfection no matter where it goes ..

Cover-drives and square-drives are awesome. Slogs to mid-wicket are often exciting. Not a fan of many square-leg and behind shots.

One of the shots I really don't like is the shot Joyce played today.Really a nothing shot and is just a little push with no real commitment to the stroke. You may as well hit it along the ground for 1 or when the ball is played in the air for a long period make sure it has a chance of being a 4 or a 6.
