Best All Time Test XII

Just because I like to stir up controversy...

I'd like to hear what everyone thinks is their best all-time Test XII. Any player from any country who has played Test cricket can be named in your XII. You don't have to make assumptions about the pitch, location, weather, etc.

For starters, here's my best XII:

Keith Miller

Sydney Barnes
Curtly Ambrose
Dennis Lillee (12th Man)

Three of Wisden's best five of the last century are named, as are five players with knighthoods. Jack Hobbs and Shane Warne are the two from Wisden's who are missing.

I'd agree - probably not Marsh as keeper. I reckon Gilly might turn out as the best keeper/batsman ever, but at the moment I'd have Heals in there. Alec Stewart might get a sympathy vote from me too

I'd have Walsh in there too. Shane Warne is just a fat prick - I hate him. I cannot understand why he gets picked in all these sides when truly great spinners are left out - Grimmet, O'Reilly.

The great thing about this kinda stuff is that everyone has their own opinions. My team is based on the fact that I have only included players I have seen in my life (born in 1977).

Greendige gets the nod ahead of Gooch due to the flip of a coin. David Boon, toughest bloke that played. Tendulkar is the best batsman in the world at present. Allan Border much like Steve Waugh would be batsman who you would have bat if your life depended on it. Botham and Hadlee need no introduction. Healy was the best keeper that ever played, Gilchrist might be a better bat but his keeping is dodgy. Malcolm Marshall was named by many as the toughest of the 80's Windies quicks to face. And depending on the track you can go whichever way you like with the last two. McGrath the best seamer in the last 10 years and Murali ahead of Warne (even though he chucks) because his record is awesome.
