Battle of the Wrestlers

For me, it's gotta be HBK. Foley did more for the business, but Michaels is the best I've ever seen in the ring, and has been responsible for more epic WrestleMania matches and moments than anyone else alive.

Foley for many reasons, I mean come on, how can we go past the Rock 'n' Sock connection for the final? Foley has done so much for wrestling and is one of the best. Michaels however will always haunt me from Montreal, (how I hated him for that) but I just think Foley was willing to do so much more. To risk ones body the way he did, no person would do that now. He should go through.

Foley, quite easily for me. Can't think of many who have sacrificed their own body so much in the ring, and have always been so selfless in putting other people over for the good of the business and providing us with so many of the most memorable wrestling moments and catchphrases. Love the man tbh, his work, his books, everything.

HBK is indeed one of the gunnest in the ring but out of it, just can't stand him. Then again like 99* I don't think I've ever forgiven him for Montreal either.

Good matchup though, HBK/Mankind at mind games was an awesome match.

Shawn is one of the all time greats in the ring but what he's done outside the ring even disregarding Bret is pretty horrific. I hate the bloke and can never truly acknowledge a guy who's been responsible for destroying so many careers (see Trips, Hogan etc) so I'm going with Mick even though I know Shawn should get my vote.

Shawn Michaels. Mick Foley was a great guy who made a lot of sacrifices for the business, but seriously hes nowhere near the top 2 wrestling entertainers of all time, and it would be a bit of a farce if he got into the final, imo.

This one is very close, so I'm gonna keep it open over the weekend so everyone can have their vote. Final will be posted on Monday.

Absolutely love HBK, Foley one of the hardest men in the business...truely impossible to pick.

Hmmm...

Gonna go with HBK, though not easily

Wow. Foley triumphs 7-6, something of an upset in my book but it proves the strength of the connection he has with fans of my/our generation.

So, in a very poetic twist, we come to our final showdown....

Round 6, FINAL:

Weighing in at two hundred and sixty pounds, from Miami, Florida.....'The Great One', 'The Brahma Bull', 'The People's Champion', 'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment', THE ROCK!

And his opponent, weighing in at two hundred and eighty pounds, from Long Island, New York.....'Mankind', 'Dude Love', 'Cactus Jack', 'The Hardcore Legend', MICK FOLEY!

I'm going for Foley

Foley was world class in Japan, ECW, WCW, WWF and if recall he also showed up to ROH once or twice.

WA organized a "King of the Death Match" tournament. Each level of the tournament featured a new and deadly gimmick: Cactus Jack's first round was a barbed-wire baseball bat, thumbtack death match, in which he defeated Terry Gordy; the second round was a barbed-wire board, bed of nails match where Cactus Jack defeated Shoji Nakamaki. The final, against Terry Funk, was a barbed-wire rope, barbed-wire and C4 board, time-bomb death match, which Cactus Jack won with help from Tiger Jeet Singh. After the match, both men were ravaged by the wire, and burned by the C4 explosions. Foley later claimed that he only received $300 for the entire night

Not really, in my case it was me voting against Shawn rather than voting for Mick. As much as I love the guy I acknowledge he isn't in HBK's league as far as a wrestler goes but I just hate Shawn so much. Sure there's a couple of others in that boat here too.

As for the Fnal it has to be The Great One. The 'real' final was him and Austin but he's here now and against Foley wins it hands down. WWE hasn't been the same without him.

Gah, horrible choice to make. Severely tempted to vote Foley just for the amount he constantly gives back to the fans. But then The Rock is The Rock. Ugh.

Balls to it, I'm voting Foley! But I will be happy whoever wins.

Need to do a battle of the Finishing moves next, Matt. :D
