Battle of the Test captains

Xuhaib

International Coach
Taylor is overrated, He had the services of both McGrath and Warne just like Steve Waugh with strong back ups in Fleming, Reiffel and Mcdermett(sp?) also the batting was at par with the early 2000 Aus batting line up as both the Waugh twins were at the peak of their careers.

P.S Any captain who looses 2 tests in a series against mid 90's England dosen't deserve a final place.

And quite obviously Imran didn't have the services of Wasim Akram, Abdul Qadir, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas etc and more importantly himself. Imran should have won more matches with the talent he had.

Hence Taylor for me.

Have always heard great stuff about Imran's captaincy but i never actually saw him action, i saw Taylor and he is the best i've seen so for that i'll give it to Tubby.

Both extremely good. I have more of an appreciation for Taylor, as I got to see a lot more of him, but while I acknowledge that some of the appreciation of Imran (even just as a man) is well OTT, he had an extremely difficult job negotiating the internal politics of Pakistani cricket, and he had something of a reputation for getting the best out of young players relatively new to the side. Also fared well against some great opposition, which can't be ignored, and his own form didn't suffer when he took leadership of the side.

Very tough, but I'll vote for Imran, 'cause the sense of sheer inspiration and leadership he seems to emanate just isn't that common.
