Umrigar.

Would you take Javed Omar, the second best batsman ever produced by Bangladesh, over Bedi? Give a better reason please.
Err, I didn't give a reason, it was a statement.

A very tough one, maybe the hardest yet? My brain says that Kapil Dev was the better player, but I love Saeed Anwar, and I loved watching him bat, so it has to be the man from Karachi.

Someone said they wanted good battles in the first round, the problem with these is that no matter who wins, someone is going to be angry that their favorite player got out so early.

I won't be angry just suicidal. That someone wasn't me was it?

Anwar was among the top three openers of his generation. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Kapil Dev.

Perhaps I am a bit baised since Anwar is one of my favourite players, but his cricketing feats and talents are enough in my mind to place him above Kapil.

International Captain
Dev. Anwar tailed off considerably in the latter part of his career. If he had mantained his early form throughout the rest of his career then he could have been among the best openers of all time. As it is Dev played too great of a role for India for too long to be overlooked.

Just saying: Kapil averaged 14 less as a batsman, but took 434 wickets in addition ;). But if I were voting, I truly don't know who I would vote for. Although Kapil gave India its greatest memories, Anwar was important for Pakistani cricket too.

Tough choice.. But when you look at both great player career.. kapil Dev acheived far more than Anwar so i'm going to go for Kapil Dev.

Quite obviously Kapil wasn't in the top three allrounders of his generation. If you have to pick Anwar, pick him.

Kapil Dev - No contest.
