Highest aggregate for the RoW team yeah, and second on averages to Kanhai. But only fifth on overall aggregate behind the Chappell brothers, Stackpole and Walters.Yeah but 254 actually makes him the Highest overall run getter IIRC. Mostly no one scored that much that series.
The convicts should always lose.Crazy that Australia had the top four runscorers and the top wicket taker, and still lost the series!
Doesn't Team 2 have better bowling though? I would be surprised if Murali is quiet for 5 straight tests. Even in that super test he had a very good spell.anyway, the bowling lineups are way too weak and the battings are extremely strong on both ends, 0-0 draw or if there's a very spicy wicket, I can see team 1 taking it due to just having better bowling options.
Highest run getter for the RoW side. Plus, not that many players played the entire series. From both sides there were only 10, 4 Australians (Ian Chappell, Marsh, O’Keefe and Stackpole) and 6 from ROW (Bedi, Gavaskar, Greig, Intikhab, Sobers, and Abbas)Yeah but 254 actually makes him the Highest overall run getter IIRC. Mostly no one scored that much that series.
I don't have much faith in Murali in Australia to produce much of worth, especially given how good Kanhai and Sobers are at playing spin bowling.Doesn't Team 2 have better bowling though? I would be surprised if Murali is quiet for 5 straight tests. Even in that super test he had a very good spell.
Team 2 really only have Murali really. Other bowlers are worse than Bedi and Pollock. It's like:Doesn't Team 2 have better bowling though? I would be surprised if Murali is quiet for 5 straight tests. Even in that super test he had a very good spell.
They did better than the 2005 ICC side that was wiped out.Highest run getter for the RoW side. Plus, not that many players played the entire series. Top runscorers and wicket takers..
I. Chappell 5 matches 9 innings 634 @ 79.25 4 tons 1 fifty
Stackpole 5 matches 9 innings 490 @ 54.44 2 tons 2 fifties
G. Chappell 3 matches 6 innings 425 @ 106.25 2 tons 1 fifty
Walters 4 matches 6 innings 355 @ 71.00 2 tons 1 fifty
Sobers 5 matches 9 innings 341 @ 48.71 1 ton
Lillee 4 matches 24 @ 20.08 2 5’fers 1 10’fer
Intikhab 5 matches 19 @ 33.47
Bedi 5 matches 17 @ 38.29
Greig 5 matches 16 @ 27.00 1 5’fer
Massie 3 matches 11 @ 27.27 1 5’fer
Flintoff and Harmison should be capable of something.Team 2 really only have Murali really. Other bowlers are worse than Bedi and Pollock. It's like:
Tier 1: Murali
Tier 3: Bedi, Pollock
Tier 5: Flintoff, Harmison
Tier 6: Vettori, Alam, Greig, Kallis
Interestingly, Greg Chappell was 12th man for the first two tests. So despite his record, he played in the 2 losses and 1 draw, not contributing to the series result at all. They did better than the 2005 ICC side that was wiped out.
Not sure which first day Ashes was worse for England 2002/3 or 2006/7.Harmison wasn't even capable of keeping the ball on the pitch.
There is a lack of Proctor in that team. In Alam's place perhaps.Pollock is the only truly class paceman here and the 71 teams bats deep. Will be a high scoring series.
Proctor was in 78/79 no?There is a lack of Proctor in that team. In Alam's place perhaps.
You meant Everything??That 2005 bowling lineup is horrific as a world XI.
Spectacularly so if we disregard form. The only player you would actually be very happy to have in even a regular (good bowling) side as a pure bowler over the course of a career was Murali, and his track record in Aus left something to be desired.
Looking at the scorecard its seriously impressive that lineup managed to bowl Australia out for 199.That 2005 bowling lineup is horrific as a world XI.

Could have requested Flower out of retirementLooking at the scorecard its seriously impressive that lineup managed to bowl Australia out for 199.
I’m assuming looking at the team it was intentionally made to include a player from every other test side bar Bang/Zim? Or was that an unintentional quirk? (not that either could have fielded a player without it being a joke)
