Yeah, it's very close between them.Surprised too see the WI pair getting all the votes though..
Richards is a tier above Kallis
Abd is a tier above lloyd, or if in the same tier, at the different ends of the tier
Amla quite clear of Richardson
Overall it's close, but I think the SA trio has the edge no?
Wowza!!! Laxman just averaged 1 run more away and some 8 runs more at Home, proving Mark was better......
I think the gap is closer because of Mark's performances in the 90s and the fact that he batted higher in the order than Laxman did. Regardless, Sachin being quite clear of Ponting surely wins it.I really don't get Mark Waugh over Laxman. They have a 4.2 runs average difference, which is perfectly on point. I too rate Steve over Dravid, but no ways the distance is even the same with Laxman and Mark.
Not true at all. ABD has an era average boost and downhill skiing boost. Not necessarily true
Laxman had the flat era boost and played more down the order.Wowza!!! Laxman just averaged 1 run more away and some 8 runs more at Home, proving Mark was better......
You don't bring in key moments to fight Laxman. The overrating of Mark Waugh is way too big. And even if you rate Steve clearly over Dravid, you will be Wrong to put them in separate tiers. I am sorry, it's just NOT close. The only further one is the Ws one.Sorry but that's insane underrating of Mark Waugh.
I saw both Mark and Laxman and while it's close, I felt Waugh was just slightly better because it was crazy how often he reserved his best for the key moments (Laxman did too to almost the same extent) and to me he was just slightly more assured against the top pacers than Laxman.
Waugh comfortably better than Dravid for me.
Yeah but he also played his home games on the tough SA pitches. Not true at all. ABD has an era average boost and downhill skiing boost.
Remove his opening stint and he averages 50, for longer than Mark's whole career. There, 8 runs is enough for Era and order.Laxman had the flat era boost and played more down the order.
Laxman epitomized back to the Wall performances. And if you remove Laxman's opening stint, his average jumps to 50. I can't see them on the same tier, at all.I think the gap is closer because of Mark's performances in the 90s and the fact that he batted higher in the order than Laxman did. Regardless, Sachin being quite clear of Ponting surely wins it.
Why would you remove his opening stint if he bats down the order mostly the rest of the time?Remove his opening stint and he averages 50, for longer than Mark's whole career. There, 8 runs is enough for Era and order.
So did Mark Waugh but better against pace.Laxman epitomized back to the Wall performances.
Because you are marking him for batting down the order And because he clearly wasn't an opener who was shoe horned in that role. Infact even without it, his career is longer. Why would you remove his opening stint if he bats down the order mostly the rest of the time?
Laxman 96 vs SA clears everything he did to pace and no way you think they are on the same plane to spin. Laxman is comparable to Clarke (can go either way) not Mark. Pujara is comparable to Mark (and I will take Pujara). So did Mark Waugh but better against pace.
Clarke is a bit overrated against spin tbhLaxman 96 vs SA clears everything he did to pace and no way you think they are on the same plane to spin. Laxman is comparable to Clarke (can go either way) not Mark. Pujara is comparable to Mark (and I will take Pujara).
I just can't see a viable case for Waugh. Had a 11 year career to Laxman's 16.Waugh is relatively close to VVS but I'll give it to VVS.
Dude every bat has a formative phase where they are finding their step. Removing that for Laxmans convenience makes no sense especially when Steve Waugh gets critiqued for failing on the few occasions he batted up the order.Because you are marking him for batting down the order And because he clearly wasn't an opener who was shoe horned in that role. Infact even without it, his career is longer.
