Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Which middle orders are better for an average side? Just in batting only.

Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman vs Ponting, Mark Waugh and Steve Waugh

Richards, Lloyd and Richardson vs Amla, Kallis and ABD

Younis, Yousuf and Inzi vs 3Ws

Trott, KP and Collingwood vs Kohli, Pujara and Rahane

Really?

I think they are close and I imagine we disagree on them.
Sachin>Ponting
Dravid~S Waugh
Laxman>M Waugh

Weekes>Younis
Walcott>Inzi
Worrell>Yousuf

Kohli>Pietersen
Pujara>Trott
Rahane>Collingwood

There is only one other way to rate these 3 pairs, the Wrong way.

Yeah I rate Steve and Mark ahead of Dravid and Laxman.

Maybe I am underrating the 3Ws but will check back on it.

The second one is the only close one right?
Tendulkar etc.
Kallis etc.
3Ws
Kohli etc.

I go with:

Ponting, etc.
Richards etc.
Younis, etc.
Kohli, etc.
S Waugh edges out Dravid for me and Laxman edges out M Waugh, these 2 basically cancel out each other. Even if you give the Aussie pair a slight edge, Tendulkar is easily clear of Ponting though and clearly the biggest gap here.

You tripping with Mark>Laxman. Laxman is 61st for me, Waugh in the mid 90s. Not close. Dravid is close to Waugh, Ponting isn't to Tendulkar.

The Ws one is the furthest. Arguably all 3 are better than Younis, all 3 a tier above Inzi.

I really don't get Mark Waugh over Laxman. They have a 4.2 runs average difference, which is perfectly on point. I too rate Steve over Dravid, but no ways the distance is even the same with Laxman and Mark.

Surprised too see the WI pair getting all the votes though..
Richards is a tier above Kallis
Abd is a tier above lloyd, or if in the same tier, at the different ends of the tier
Amla quite clear of Richardson
Overall it's close, but I think the SA trio has the edge no?

Sorry but that's insane underrating of Mark Waugh.

I saw both Mark and Laxman and while it's close, I felt Waugh was just slightly better because it was crazy how often he reserved his best for the key moments (Laxman did too to almost the same extent) and to me he was just slightly more assured against the top pacers than Laxman.

Waugh comfortably better than Dravid for me.
