We shall define a legend of cricket on the basis of the following criteria:

- An influential figure who remained involved in and made significant contributions to the game off the field.
- A hero or an icon who served as an inspiration for others (cricketers as well as the general public) and will be remembered for years to come.
- Remember that a legend is defined not merely by cricket records but also by aura, impact and legacy.

Battle 6

Jack Hobbs (opening batsman, most prolific batsman, one of Wisden's five cricketers of the century)

versus

WG Grace (all-rounder, developed most of modern technique, popularized cricket as a spectator sport)

This battle will close after 12 hours (or earlier if it's a no contest IMO) with a lead of at least 5. Otherwise, it will close after 24 hours.

Grace is more of a lgendary figure to me. He was a player with true characer on and off the field according to peoples accounts of him. His statistics don't really back up his legendary status

Blimey, could be the final for mine.

I'll go for Grace in this particular battle, the umm, more controversial parts of his character, which might make me vote against him in other battles, just adds to the legend, imho.
