Hmm. Wonder if this is going to be divided down "Ashes" lines....? 3 Poms = 3 votes for Fred; 2 crims = 2 votes for GSC.

Chappell.
Trueman was a great bowler but i believe Chappell was a better batsman than Trueman was a bowler.

Whatever it takes!!!
Trueman I have heard so many guys rate him so high that I think he must have been a better bowler than Chappell is as a batsman.

Chappell, but very marginally. This is a horrific first round match-up, as both are among the best at their craft, but Chappell can stake a fair claim (along with a few others, mind you) for the "best after Bradman" spot, while Trueman isn't quite in the same league as the Hadlees, Marshalls and Lillees of the world.

Well, I'm gonna keep up the parochial flavor - there's no doubt that Freddie Truman was a great fast bowler, but I'm going to vote for Greg Chappell - a great batting record in an era much, much friendlier to bowling (and very fast bowling at that) and an extremely handy one-day cricketer as well. And like Alan Border after him, an underrated bowler himself.
