I'll throw a vote to Armstrong - Border is the better player, but not by as big a margin as you might think, and the Big Ship doesn't deserve to go out without breaking his duck.

I might be being unduly harsh on AB's spin, but I'll go with Armstrong on the grounds that he was a genuine all-rounder. As great an achievement as Border's test run total is I can't help but think it's more due to the sheer bulk of cricket played now compared to The Big Ship's era.

Maybe so. But to average 50 for his entire career given the bowlers he had to face and the tricky situations he had to dig Australia out of on many occasions (Tests & ODIs) I think he deserves the margin he is winning by.
