Battle of Cricketers II - CW's Favorite Cricketer (now underway)

BoyBrumby

Englishman
MM & RR

Kapil Dev & Close

Junior Waugh & Alan Davidson

Marshall must be a darkhorse to take the whole thing out; certainly in the best (let's be hyper conservative) half-dozen post-war seamers, useful lower order batsman, a genuinely lovely fella (by every account) and taken from us so cruelly early.

Lot of time for Close too; one of those chaps who reflects what we (the English) see as the best of ourselves: stoic, unbending, brave to the point of insanity and forever unbowed. Sort of fella who makes it easier to understand how we once ran a quarter of the globe. Plus he played for The Arsenal too, obvz.

Younis Khan for being a class act.

Richie Benaud for being the voice of cricket.

Curtly Ambrose for being cooler than you.

Herbert Sutcliffe for services to Pudsey.

Abstain

Shane Warne for mastering the dark arts of the sport.

Ryan ten Doeschate for being the type of guy I'd go for an Amsterdam brownie with.

Mushtaq Ahmed for being a county legend with a stripey beard.

Sir Leonard Hutton for being the best.
