Battle of Cricketers II - CW's Favorite Cricketer (now underway)

The Sean

Cricketer Of The Year
First two are two of the clearest battles so far for me:

Viv and Donald - no explanation needed

The Don and Larwood - love that they've been drawn together, hope they both get through.

The last one is tougher - Waugh certainly, but as for the second pick I think that Laxman will get enough votes without mine so I'll cast one Tallon's way.

Challis

Bradman was without equal as a batsman and (arguably) sportsman, but I find him quite hard to warm to as a bloke.

Only part of why I didn't vote for him tbh.

I think it's doubtless that he's the best batsman of all time, and almost certain that he's the best cricketer of all time, and I don't really appreciate that. I know it sounds a touch petty because it's obviously not something I can blame him for, but the fact that he was so good tends to end discussion rather than inspire it.

Agree with Howe_zat. Bradman is so clearly the best that it is hard to be his "fan". It would have been hard for someone so gifted to not succeed, so it's hard to take inspiration from him. I wouldn't have voted for him, if he was in a slightly tougher battle.

Donald, for that classic session against Athers, and Richards, 'cos its Viv, innit

Lol for being the greatest ever, and Bradman for being the greatest ever

VVS for being a Lancastrian and Don Tallon for, by all accounts, being a bit special
