Keith Miller - A forthcoming book is apparently going to put a new slant on his war record but that won't alter the way he played the game

I think Miller's war record has already been hashed over. It gets subject to a bit of hyperbole - he wasn't quite Douglas Bader, but the fact is that anyone who flew even a single combat mission in WWII deserves massive respect for it, he was nearly killed (not only when flying) more than once, and many of his friends didn't make it through.

And as you say, it doesn't alter the way he played the game. Or that he got all colonial with the princess ;)

Another toughie. Jayawardene is a prince of a batsman and a seemingly top chap but I have enormous respect for Flower

For the Ashes last summer, and a world cup for England, Andy Flower - and even without those factors he'd still be my choice for the black arm band protest alone
