It's to hard to work out with all the teams spread out, so if you guys want after the AS Series, while we wait for the draft/new season, we can run a big comp between all the English clubs, to see who really is the best :D

Maybe each British manager should post their sides achievements this season to help a decision. That's what the decision should be based on.

Lancashire - retained their spot in Division 1 OD, promoted back into Division 1 FC and beaten finalists VB Cup.

Now how is that far way of doing it, a D5 side can only beat the opposition put in front of it, so higher div sides will always get the advatage as they will claim they beat better opposition, yet you would never know if a D5 side could beat them as they never had teh chance to play them

Perfect example a D3 side (Leics) beat not only you in the final of the VB Cup, but myself in the semis... but their season would suggest a avg one so where would you plae them?

Surrey - dual-relegation

Fair enough Rich, so on what basis were the original assessments made and why on earth would Kent be considered overwhelming favourites?

I'd have to say Lancs are the strongest English side followed extremely closely by Yorks then Kent clear third.

I can't change my vote.

Regardless, the reason kent are clear favourites is publicity, pure and simple. Kent are a much higher profile team, Rich plays the forum, well, not really, but everyone knows Kent, everyone knows Rich, its simply a matter of great publicising on Rich's behalf.

Whereas no-one really knows Lancs or Yorks, because as managers you keep a lower profile. The same reason the VB cup final had no real exciting lead up, because Lancs and Leics just don't have the public's eye, we're quiet achievers.

my season wasn't that average.

Lord had a big one all planned but nothing became of it...
There was an error with the Vc4 file.. didnt get any reply back after i sent emails to the board / blewy.. not sure if mails got through as some times it doesnt..

Anyway that didnt include all the british teams

I would put Lancs and Kent up there.. but heaps of people are under rating Hampshire

you're clearly 4th Lord, i just don't think you've quite got the measure of the top three, Surrey comes in fifth, warwickshire sixth, leics seventh, worcs eighth, glam ninth, Somerset dead on last.

yea thats what i thought aswell probably 4th.. but i think some teams wouldnt even give the chance to rate hampshire the 4th best british side

Does this make any sense that Kent has the most votes yet Yorkshire and Lancashire are in Div 1 in both forms....make no sense

I think you've summed it up pretty well David. Next season although we'll only get to play Surrey in one day cricket, I reckon we're catching up with them pretty quickly and we'll soon have the measure of them...

Until we've had a few seasons for the divisions to steady themselves, you can't really read much into Divisions.

I;ve not rested on my laurels this time though, and with the addition of a bowler with S/R 25 in OD who was discarded by Mash, my team is looking stronger than last year.

Gezz somthing I said

All iam saying is comparing teams over different divisions is hard as each team plays different quality of oppsostion... BUT it doesn't make them any worse, they like ACT IMO are one of the best Aussie sides in the game, but they are in D5, now quite obviously if team A wins both D1 titles and team B wins both Div 5 titles your always going to claim team A is better, when team B are just as good a side in terms of players the only reason they are there is they joined later.

And I NEVER EVER claimed Kent to be overwhelming favourites, I might go around saying we are the best - That doesn't mean we are, it's just a tad pointless playing the game if your going to go around saying oh iam rubbish, iam going to lose every game... We all do it in real life to, I'll back and say Kent/England will win everything regardless of the opposition, I did it with the Ashes and I did it with the World Cup and I'll do it again and again, but it doesn't mean we are going to do it, just I try and be optimistic and look at the good things, rather than be a defeatest all day long.

Plus why iam I in the wrong for backing my own side you probley did the same, you need to go chat with the other 8 managers that voted for Kent ask them why they made just a bad decision.

Unrelated here Rich, but as a big Coventry Fan I regularly bet on them to lose.

The CW XI was a matter of pride as I was Chairman of Selectors for the England team, and had been deprived of Rikki Clarke!
