Cricketer Of The Year
Surprised couldn't find a thread. Let's see who wins this one, the 5th greatest opener or the 5th greatest allrounder.
Avoiding the questionBoth magnificent.
Yes he did. Their stats in WSC:Did Procter play WSC?
32ndProctor was around 43rd
5 matches for Rest of the World 11Yes he did. Their stats in WSC:
Barry Richards: 5 matches, 554 @79.14
Mike Procter: 4 matches, 14 @16.07; 182 @30.33
Both tops the average charts in their disciple comfortably, but neither played enough to be near the highest run getters or wicket takers. I read somewhere that Procter bowled mostly offspin in WSC; so that's even more impressive imo.
It's speculative, but the potential of these two guys were to both be in an ATG XI.Avoiding the question
If you feel like it, you can throw one vote for Richards. I also don't think he should loose nill. It's speculative, but the potential of these two guys were to both be in an ATG XI.
Both were amazing.
Procter would have been up there with Imran, Hadlee, Botham with even more dimensions to his skill set while arguably being a better batsman than any of them.
Richards..... Great attacking post war opening batsmen with an excellent technique to excel in varying conditions doesn't exist, ironically the closest comp being his county teammate. Throw in his ability to contribute to the cordon (which Procter does as well) and he's confirmed as a one of one type player.
Great post war openers are more rare than great post war spinners and definitely more so than bowling all-rounders.
No he does not.If you feel like it, you can throw one vote for Richards. I also don't think he should loose nill.
So then Imran vs Gavaskar? Is Gavaskar better? It's speculative, but the potential of these two guys were to both be in an ATG XI.
