Don't really think the new ball is as effective on pitches with low bounce in comparison to other pitches. I, however, will concede that reverse swing is a very effective weapon on the subcontinent. Not true, the first session almost always provides some help for the quicks with the overhead conditions, especially if you have a newish ball. Plus there's the reverse swing factor. Not too many quicks around the world right now are good enough to use it as a lethal weapon. Don't blame the subcontinental conditions for that, though.
Was responding to G_S's point re Indian pitches being flat till teh 4th day tbh. Yeah, The Pitches against NZ were pretty dumb. You're right Teja, problem is we are making pitches that aren't to our advantage lately. No they're not seamers, but they're not spinning either.
However you are correct. India will add more bounce in our wicket when Australia and South Africa start making turners. Deal?
Not sure if you were referring to me, but I don't complain about spin. I'm complaining about pitches that offer nothing until the 4th day unless there's a bit of reverse swing. India are obviously welcome to tailor pitches to their strengths, but at least give some help to your spinners or something...not complete roads that need to break down before competitive cricket comes about.Nah I get your overall point. Just pointing out the irony in we're lately simultaneously not making pitches that bounce and not making pitches that turn. That is brutal.
But yes, when we make pitches like against Australia, I don't give a **** if they don't bounce like Australian/South African wickets. You don't see any posters complaining when Australian/South African wickets don't turn.
One of the more annoying inconsistencies on CW.
