Gelman, you don't care for the roundball game, and I'm curious, why did you post in the WC thread and create this one?

Sounds like 2034 might be our next real chance (if we actually have one at all)

Everyone is saying China for 2026 (although Qatar success makes that a little less likely) and then Argentina/Uruguay are a shoo-in for 2030.

Blatter sparks "gay" furore

From the BBC.

Homosexuality is illegal in Qatar and Blatter's hilarious response to a question if he foersaw any problems was that gay fans should refrain from ***ual activity.

Honestly, worst call ever to give it to Qatar. Has literally nothing to recommend it.

Jeez you're getting up early these days Brumbers.
Sleeping patterns ****ed, tbh. Ashes, etc.

Hardly the same thing, tbf; in Qatar even consensual gay *** behind locked doors is illegal. I don't know of many countries where in-stadium shagging of any manner is condoned and not sure I'd want to stand on a terrace where it was.

England weren't running for 2022 in any event. Whilst I'd have liked to see us win 2018 Russia getting the nod is hardly a farce, they're a massive footballing country. Qatar? Not so much.

Weather is nice and there is some good tail (tail – see Eastern European *** slaves). Prefer Doha to Dubai.

Too bad the weather won't actually be nice during the World Cup period, unless insufferable heat is your cup of tea.

I spent 5 days in Doha over the summer. Found the weather not be insufferable but I wasn't a Pakistani migrant worker making tuppence and I wasn't playing football. Stadia will presumably have air-con, so that issue will be overcome.

I wonder if this decision is subject to some sort of legal challenge on the basis of a breach of procedural impropriety tbh.
