Yeah, it wouldn't be something that lifts up subscription rates. Reportedly gaining AFL only had a minimal effect on Foxtel uptake, let alone a six week cricket tournament.
The only way that Foxtel's gonna peak with subscription rates is exclusive rights to the AFL or the NRL, and anti-siphoning laws surely prevent that?

Baffled that people still want to drop Lyon/O'Keefe.

I can understand the excitement of wanting to pick four pacemen, but there's very few times when four are gonna do what three couldn't do, and it's wise to remember that balls get old, as do pitches, and that there are over rates to consider.

Not picking a proper spinner is non-sensical the majority of the time.

Give it to SBS, bring the comfy back to cricket.
hang on, SBS might not want it.

I fear the way it's going, CA will have to pay somebody to show all this stuff. The players should probably just take the deal right now before CA goes broke......

I'm not for it but I can see the selectors doing it at some point. When that happens Wade at 6 is a non starter for me. Have an AR chuck down some spinners if needed.

Really? No one can see why a young beanpole quick who hoops them away at 90+ is going to be of interest to the selectors as a pick for the future? The guy's rep is already how he scares six shades of **** out of everyone who faces him and he's nowhere near getting it right yet.
With all contracts being yearly and with the number not so long ago reducing from 25 to 20, I think we ought to pick the 20 best players. Yearly contracts mean that past performances and 2017-2018 likely performances should be what is considered most. We have Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins, Pattinson, Hastings and probably Coulter-Nile all going to play white ball ahead of him if we are serious and a whole host of others (led by Bird, Sayers) going to play Tests. Do we have that many ahead of Lynn who was picked in the CT squad, is one of the best T20 players and averages in the 40s in first class cricket. Why doesnt CA stick their neck out for him?

Development players with potential who can't get through an international ODI should be joining the NPS or be given a developmental contract outside of the elite cricketers from Australia.

CA giving him a contract means they can control him, for better or worse. The contract list is not, and has never been, about just giving the best 20-something their due. Whether the end up doing it well or badly, it's pretty easy to see why CA have given him a contract.

i can at least see Stanlake getting a game. I have no idea how Agar jags a game given the current scarcity of LO cricket booked.

Year long tournaments threatens International cricket.
Maybe domestic competitions. With states not getting increasing payments in the latest deals some may jump ship.
For example I could see Chris Lynn and Dan Christian jumping ship, could also force early retirements.

BTW Ian Holland made his debut for Hampshire last night, taking 2/57,I guess hes' lost to Victoria now.

Lynn would jump ship anyway because of how made of glass he is, nice cover to to endure the pain you can only feel by earning millions of dollars playing the anti-cricket format for a living.

Let the mediocre Cameron Delports, any West Indian players and Anton Devcichs out there have their call to "fame" with these terrible leagues like BPL and PSL.

Pattinson has been expensive in the last couple of ODDs. Does this surprise anyone?

So Lynn is apparently going to be back in action remarkably soon for IPL playoffs.

Shall we take sweepstakes on how long it takes for some curly haired shrub to fire an arrow into his Achilles shoulder? It's at the point where I'm surprised he gets through a match and doesn't wound himself in some grievous way.

Still seems odd that Henriques, Stoinis, Lynn, Hastings in Champions Trophy squad and none got CA central contracts. Especially considering some who did.

Hastings didn't exactly shout out re-call and not going great in the limited overs stuff for him so far for Worcs.

It is really hopeless, I brought this up before with the inclusion of the young beanpole from QLD instead.

I don't think it's weird. henriques/stonis are there because the contracted MMarsh is injured, Lynn and Hastings are depth OD players, why would they get a full CA contract?
