Ummmm... if you're looking for a Warner replacement.
Honestly cut out khwaja, add solway and you'de still have a squad i'de back to beat this NSW side and half of the sides running around the shield atm.I can think of:
1. Hunt
2. Ward
3. Khawaja
4. Maddinson
5. Silk
6. Doran
7. McAndrew
8. Manenti
9. Conway
10. Bird
11. Behrendorff
Khawaja's admittedly a cheat because I think NSW wanted to keep him and he was an established star when he went to Queensland (as is Behrendorff as he doesn't play FC cricket anymore), but still it'd be embarrassingly competitive.
Where has he been batting in grade cricket over the years?Abbott's transition from #9 to genuine all-rounder was so sudden and weird. He averaged 15 for his first 50 odd shield games, then all of a sudden he decided he was the best all-rounder ever and has averaged ~50 w/ the bat in his last 15 shield games.
Mostly 5 for Parra I think. 4 and 6 sometimes.Where has he been batting in grade cricket over the years?
You just know they'll give Harris first crack. Then Renshaw again. So, what's the pecking order for openers right now with khawaja and warner both likely to call it quit's in the next 2 years?
I think it should be
Whiteman>Hunt/Ward>Renshaw/Street>Jewell>Harris
but I think it will end up being
Harris>Renshaw/Hunt>Ward>Whiteman/Street>Jewell/Street>Street
Unsure of how street fit's into the actual pecking order atm tbh, he's done well for Aus-A and has a solid shield record, but can't get a game for queensland, and may not open when he does (even when the test guys go, Burns/Renshaw will most likely open given QLD's selection this season).
Renshaw is in no formYou just know they'll give Harris first crack. Then Renshaw again.
Personally like Renshaw and hoped he would have kicked on but I'm not convinced he's fixed the issues which got him in strife at test level in the first place - haven't watched enough of him batting for Qld. But glad he's in some form at least.
NoCan someone tell me, has Trent Copeland retired.?
I'm substantially less optimistic. None of these guys seem able to average more than high 30s except Pucovski, who I'm counting out. Same problem of a lot of fifties and not many hundreds.looks like we have a few good up and coming openers compared to middle order players rn.
