Australian Domestic Season 2022-23

South Australia 2nds getting the job done against Victoria 2nds is good to see.

Seeing Liam Scott making a half century in each innings in a low scoring game is encouraging. Definitely think he has a high degree of potential with the willow, showed promise in his first few Shield games, but the experiment of batting him at 3 there did no good whatsoever. Still been able to make a fair few grade runs though, would be good to see him be able to keep this going

Wickets to Thornton in the first innings and Johnson in the second also, pleased about that too

Also, Moises bowling two overs confirms NSW has in fact picked only 3 specialist batsmen despite consistently being rolled for 100 this season.

Sutherland's averaging near 50 with the bat this year and has looked really solid, no issues with him at 6.

I think it's just because he's a PONI.

Would be nice if they started picking him for Australia A ahead of Steketee if so though. And if Victoria gave him the new ball ahead of grade cricketers.
Purely on raw Shield numbers Skeketee being around makes sense, but I still don't really rate him, certainly not as a Test prospect at least. Not fast or hostile enough to be a genuine strike bowler, but not really accurate enough to be a stock bowler either

Sutherland certainly should get the new rock for Victoria. I do like McClure even though he's still pretty raw, but O'Neill bowling mid 120s tops opening up is dumb

Although I guess it could be agrued that O'Neill's lack of pace makes him somewhat more new ball dependent, personally I think not giving it to Sutherland is a classic example of trying to get too clever for no good reason though

Now double it
He did. Now the same again.

Seriously though, this is the sort of innings which made me think a few years back Weatherald might be a Australia possibility if he could do it a bit more regularly. That really just hasn't happened unfortunately, but I really love seeing him get the job done today

EDIT: ****

And Sutherland comes on first change, after Elliot goes for six an over. How much does it take to stop the stupidity?
