Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

That's going to be a hardcore bowler heavy side. Even if a bowler is made twelfth man it still leaves Zampa or Andrews at 7. Andrews scored some runs in Futures last season but most of them were at 9.

Maybe Richardson really is going to bat 3. ;)

Overseas County rule change:

Several players, including Lamichhane, Lynn and Narine are beneficiaries of the ECB's decision to change their visas regulations. Until this season, players had to have played at least one Test or 15 white-ball internationals in the preceding 24 months for an ICC Full Member to qualify for a 'governing body endorsement' from the ECB, necessary for any player hoping to apply for a visa.

But with The Hundred in mind, the ECB successfully lobbied the Home Office to change those stipulations, with a clause added allowing those who have played at least 20 T20 games in the past 24 months to secure an endorsement.
Can't imagine it actually affects any Australian player though (unless it's 20 T20 domestic matches, which seems...unlikely)

I'm absolutely lost for words, that is somehow even more dismal than I expected. Either Agar or Zampa to carry drinks I guess.

The one slight shred of good news is that Worrall is recovering well

Always exciting to see a young batsman that's come up through the standard channels get an opportunity to start off a season though. I'll tune in to see how Henry Hunt goes.

Has a pretty good record for ACT/NSW country in Futures league stuff, so there's that at least. Looks pretty handy from what little I have seen myself, but it's a tough ask to step up against what's likely to be a properly strong Vic attack

Anyway, will be keeping a close eye on grade cricket this weekend

At least Nick Larkin made hundreds. I have the feeling this fella will pull a regular Sam Truloff impersonation.

No Haze, no Cummo, no good. Gazza in doubt too.

If so probably NSW will go for:
Copeland
Starc
O'Keefe
Abbott

I would love this just because Abbott at 11 would annoy both Mark Waugh and Burgey at the same time

Interesting scorecards in the Futures League

Bryce Street getting a triple century & Hemphrey with a 100. Victoria with another young prodigy Fraser-McGurk getting a century. Swepson & Gannon in the wickets.

Solway and Hatcher shining for NSW Metro. Ex Saffer schoolboy prodigy Brad Hope with a 100 for WA. Some runs/wickets for Green/Hardie

Wouldn’t worry me one iota itbt but nice to know you’re thinking of me, as you all should.

They kept Lyons leg injury quiet at the end of the Ashes didn’t they? No wonder he looked busted

Quite some innings from Street, that's a sensational effort. Probably won't be enough to get him in the Shield side right away, but he is probably putting himself as next in line for a top order spot behind the established blokes. Swepson doing his chances no harm too.

That WA side was odd, six pace options.

With the Shield kicking off next week, thought i'd try and predict how I think the states will lineup. I've left out the Redbacks as I don't really follow them and are unsure whether they'll blood youth or play the experienced guys (Cooper/Ferguson). Would love some insight and your own predicted lineups.

NSW:
Warner
Hughes
Smith
Henriques
Patterson
Nevill
J. Edwards
Starc
Abbott
Lyon
Hazlewood

VIC:
Maddinson
Harris
Pucovski (or Short)
Handscomb
Maxwell
Finch
Harper (assuming Gotch still injured)
Pattinson
Tremain
Boland (siddle rested)
Holland

QLD:
Burns
Renshaw
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Hemphrey
Heazlett
Peirson
Neser
Gannon
Steketee
Swepson

TAS:
Silk
Jewell
Doolan
Wade
McDermott
Webster
Paine
Bird
Sandhu
Bell
Meredith

WA:
Bancroft
Short
S. Marsh
Stoinis
M. Marsh
Cartwright
Inglis
Green
Kelly
Richardson
Paris
- J Edwards seems really out of place at 7. Id probably include Sangha even if he isnt a popular choice.

- Labuschagne has earned the right to bat at 3. Honestly its a tough choice to work out the way to go for the top 4. Personally I like Burns at 4, but hed have his eyes set on an Aussie opening position. Id also go Doggett over Gannon.

- Bird at 8 cant happen. Id gi Tom Rogers at 8 and drop Sandhu. Id like to see Paine at 6 and Faulkner 7.

- No idea if Paris is fit but Agar could be added. Id definitely play Phillipe too as he is a PONI. That means id drop Cartwright and probably Paris.

I havent heard any announcements yet.

Tasmania have named their squad, went with Rainbird and Pyecroft in the team. Meh

Think Rogers is just returning from injury iirc

Ah ok cool. I forgot about Jakey Doran who of course will be there but really needs runs.

Never heard of Lawrence Neil-Smith.
