patterson wasn't in the original 12 man squad despite the Aus A match in Brisbane, but Henriques got injured and they revised the squad. patterson at the time was basically at the top of the grade run chart and so him and Dutch Superstar Timm van der Gugten were called into the squad, but they didn't really want to pick Patterson it felt like. Once Moz went out, the spinner in the squad, luke doran, was essentially dropped and Katich took on spinning duties, as he had earlier in the summer when Casson had to retire during a game. Doran never made his FC debut. As I recall, Patterson was named in the squad for the next game but Moz, Mad Dog and TPC all returned to the team (moz as a batsman only and TPC after not being named in the squad). Moz made a pair while ****ing Steve Cazzulino and Ed Cowan put on like 300 runs in 50 overs to bat NSW out of the game (this was not rock bottom for NSW in this season, somehow). Big Ben batted with an injury and saved the game. The comp went into the BBL break and following the shield return, the team had to fit Hughes, Usman, Haddin, etc and so Patterson continued to miss out which made sense given it seemed they didn't want to pick him in the first place.
