Handscomb and Bailey the pick of the batsmen today. Boyce snagging a 3fer in a comfortable Tasmanian win.

I can't believe we lost to this South Australian rabble.

And Siddle with some very nice figures against the CA XI. Neilson the star bat for CA today which is the first time both Bryant and Webster have failed.

SMarsh should play in the Ashes. Looks in ominous form and could be prolific in home conditions.

We should just **** off the idea of an all-rounder at 6

This bowling from Kelly & Mackin is exceptional. Some of the best I've seen in Aus domestic cricket from 2 tall, accurate and quick bowlers, and 2 players that weren't even in their state's original team.

That makes me feel somewhat better about Queensland's woeful performance.

Mackin lost his length a bit at the death, but up until then they were both seriously impressive.

WA have a seriously good batch of young pacemen coming through.

Darsh makes runs in 1 day cricket and everyone wants him back in the 5 day format. Let's see him bat top 4 in the shield and out score everyone first. Plus he is a backwards step.

He probably will. He may be a "backwards step" but this is the Ashes. You pick the players most likely to win, and SMarsh is it.

Except Darsh has proven time and time again that he can't string together more than a couple of good performances in tests before getting injured or otherwise turning to absolute piss.

The memory of 17 runs in six innings lives on strongly, against a dire bowling attack too.

The biggest doubt against Marsh now is his injury history – not only can’t he string games together but he constantly gets injured during games and I think that was the decisive factor that counted against him post-India.

Mind you, his home Test form in the past three seasons (when he’s been fit) has been pretty good; not the craziest idea to bring him back in home conditions.

It's uncanny. Even though I hadn't checked the scorecard since the third over I had a feeling that Weatherald was scoring runs.

Yeah I think it's time to give the young bloke a go

356 plays 345 seems like an entertaining match today. I see Dean 119 (98) got man of the match; I wonder if Valente should have 36 (17) and 3/54 (10) on the winning side and dismissed Dean. I didn't watch the game, just a thought really.

Also good stuff Neser - a cricketer who is improving all of the time.
