Vele Duboski a local Canberra product ends up at Manly.
Wonder who from the 15 selected for the Bangladesh tour will play Matador cup if Bangla series cancelled.

ACT Comets coach Mark Higgs sacked after long association with Canberra cricket
Mark Higgs sacked as Comets coach, will play in Canberra grade as a player.
Always liked Higgs. One of those guys who, no matter the situation, you never felt comfortable until he was out of the game. I remember watching this one live and him blazing away through cover without any cares, was getting very nervous about where things were headed even when SA were cruising. Should have done more with what he had.

Some fresh-faced Rad Haddin action behind the sticks too.

Advice from DFAT prompted CA to delay the tour on Saturday evening as the government agency updated its assessment to warn "there is reliable information that militants may be planning to target Australian interests in Bangladesh". Last night, the United Kingdom government had followed Australia's lead and upgraded its warning to British nationals in the country, repeating the warning of possible militant attacks on Western interests. That prompted Canada and other countries to follow suit. "UK officials have been advised to limit attendance at events where westerners may gather. You should be particularly vigilant at this time," Britain's Foreign Office warned.

Looks bleak for Bangladesh.Hello Metador Cup tho.:D

Might be refreshing to see a 50 Over Tournament with teams at full strength, even if the circumstances are unfortunate.

Interesting to see what type of crowds would show up.

I reckon the same as last year,4/5 biggies retired,Warner and Johnson missing, half of those 15 squad are virtual unknowns to the gerneral public. Also its October and fans generally don't come out to November 1st test, and Metador cup is poorly promoted on Channel 9 should I say Gem or Cricket Australia.
Same as for except for diehards like us,Sydney fans may go to NSW games, but no one else,I feel Cricket Australia xl games will get little coverage or fans watching.

Shame it's starting basically the day after holidays finish. I wouldn't expect much, but TV ratings would be what CA are interested in, particularly with more D/Ners this time

Mmh you're right, I suppose it doesn't matter to CA or most people in the end when the BBL exists.

Just wish some of the casual fans would take a walk on the extreme side and try the boring versions of the game for once, I'll admit going to Shield and OD Cup games are so ridiculously comfy with so few people but it feels like a guilty pleasure with so few people bothering.

Look I will be watching.
But people calm down after footy season, the Spring Carnival is on for horse racing, and the Bathurst 100,+the Rugby World Cup,the AFL draft,Rugby League tests and Ireland vs Australia in aerial ping pong etc.
So i don't see fans switching onto the first test.
Now if Dave Warner was playing for NSW maybe, but their is a question whether Steve Smith or Mitchell Starc would be allowed to play by the CA anyway.(rotation policy).

Resting Starc I would get, but it's not like these are high intensity, mentally taxing games for someone like Smith...

Resting an in-form batsman is crazy IMO

unless he genuinely is tired and feels like he needs a rest
