Wonder who would win out of a hypothetical fine specimen XI v a rough lid XI of current Australian cricketers

My money would be on the latter tbqh
A computer game can simulate this kind of competition. I had played a FIFA manger at one time. There it was possible to set parameters for each player. Of course, it's not FIFA, but you get the principle.

The important thing is that either of those Aus XIs would easily destroy those from all other nations.

Mitch Marsh and Glenn Maxwell have been pulled from the hundred by Cricket Australia.

CA claims they need to rest before the World Cup. Not sure how that works when their hundred contracts are worth 125,000 pounds. Does CA pay out there contracts they're forced to lose?

Pulling marsh out is weird. He struggled to keep himself fit enough to bowl a few overs in the IPL a month ago and he's not gonna play any cricket for atleast another few months unless green get's injured. Hundred feels like a perfect oppurtunity to build back up his workload. Maxwell makes a bit more sense IMO, played the entirety of the IPL and the T20 blast, probably needs a bit of a rest between all that and LOI commitments with AUS.

How does everyone feel about the general look of the ODI team right now, FYI? We haven't played much recently bar that indian series, but I think our the 11 for the WC right now is shaping up to be something like

1.Warner/Marsh
2.Head/Marsh
3.Smith
4.Marnus?
5.Carey
6.Green/Stoinis/Marsh?
7.Maxwell
8.Starc
9.Cummins/Haze
10.Ellis/third spinner
11.Zampa

Bit concerned who our second frontline spinner is gonna be, agar took 5fer in the marsh cup final but I don't really rate him outside of t20's as a specialist spinner. Bit concerned about the #4 and #6 role's, aswell. Marnus has been terrible in the SC in ODI's and shouldn't be there going forward, and I'm not sure about who's even gonna play at #6 now with marsh moving up the order. I don't think green's White ball bowling is good enough to play as a 3rd/4th seamer in indian conditions and stoinis is stoinis. If we see some

1.Warner
2.Head
3.Marsh
4.Smith

type **** where the selectors try shuffling smith down from 3 to accommodate someone else again I'm gonna be pissed.

Seems like a typical CA workload management sort of thing, whether it is the best course of action or not I honestly don't know but I certainly will not be shedding tears about them not playing some mickey mouse cricket

Also young QLD fastman Aubery Stockdale will be seemingly playing down here in Adelaide this season, named in the SACA pathway acadmemy list, basically a few youngish players who are not on the contract list but are in the selectors thoughts for the future. Harry Manenti is on that list too, moving down to join his brother

Can't be Marnus, he's been too bad. Warner is still good enough, just, to be there. Tricky thing about the top 4, which should be Warner/Head/Smith/Marsh is what order to bat then in. They are all best in the top 3 but one has to bat 4 and my choice would actually Warner.

Head
Marsh
Smith
Warner
Carey
Green
Maxwell
3 of: ***/starc/haze/ellis/agar
Zampa

With potential to even throw in an extra batsman like they did in the home ODIs v NZ and rely on Green/Marsh/Maxwell for 20 overs between them. Gives you a really deep batting order. But the extra batsman shouldn't be Marnus, and I don't really like Stoinis either for it.
