No they couldn't. They're still going to all be rejects who couldn't get into their state sides and they're going to be annihilated.

They're hardly the most surprising. No one would have even heard of Swepson or Renshaw a season ago.
That's because they're both about 12. Mennie and Worrall are journeymen who've played a few seasons of FC cricket so we knew what they were about. They were rewarded for great seasons, rather than being picks for the future.

Put it this way, the young guns are always a chance whereas, absent their great Shield seasons, Mennie and Worrall aren't in the picture at all.

Can't believe the number of clubs who pick their Green Shield squads at the end of the preceding season. And they're mostly the clubs with fewer juniors. Weird.

The kid I'm most excited about, by far, is Arjun Nair. As long as he doesn't get into issues re. chucking, he's going to be an incredible talent. And even if he does he's probably as a batsman alone as Steve Smith was at his age.

We'll see how he does against S Africa,India and Aussie A then.
Their could be a place for 2 spinners this year in the NSW team.

It was missing
I was going to come back in and edit my post to say it might actually have been missing, but thought it was more fun to bag Wade.

I quite like the A side. It is interesting that the selectors have Renshaw ahead of Heazlett and Dean. With Bancroft the other opening bat, it is going to be a very dour pair. Stoinis potentially at 3 often bats like that too, although he has shown some versatility. I guess Patterson might bat 3 and Stoinis at 6 as he might be needed to bowl quite a bit.

Are they using the pink ball in the A match?

Just going to end up getting the worst of it without playing under lights.

Surprised SA aren't trying the short ball more tbh, the younger Marsh managed to get some good bite when India A last came over.

Big innings by Stoney Stoinis and Patterson.

Disappointed for Maxwell, he was good batting last season in the shield.

Will be very interested to see if the Aus team can remain competitive here, they are clearly outmatched IMO by a much more experienced and credentialed SA side.

Was enjoyable to watch from square boundary as Bancroft almost got murdered twice by Van Zyl off Swepson. The first pull shot went under his visor.

Maxwell also looked borderline suicidal the entire day.

Great stuff by Tremain the lone pacemen, others mediums or spinners.
Maybe Fekete should get a call up.
Happy how Stoinis is developing hope he gets some poles.
