Peever has been a disasterThis whole deal stinks. Peever and Sutherland have acted more disgracefully and done more damage to the sport than Steven Smith and David Warner could ever have done.
Going to Foxtel is the death knell of sports in this country.
This is something that we should be writing our MPs about.
My mother, a lifelong cricket game is absolutely livid. I've never seen her more upset. There's no way she can afford Foxtel and loved watching the limited officers matches in particular.
This deal makes me more angry the more I hear about it. Absolutely disgusting.

It's actual fact the stuff had bids taken on it, and CA rejected them 3 odd weeks ago, but that Fifield quote says to me that CA is free to reject the first FTA bids and then sell it to whoever, which uh, seems like a big change from how we've all thought this thing worked.Yeah look I openly don't think the anti-siphoning list should be a thing at all, but I'm not buying that no-one actually bid for the stuff that was on there. I wonder if Ten feels like challenging it in the courts for the right to show just those games though; probably not tbf.
It would render the whole thing entirely pointless if so.It's actual fact the stuff had bids taken on it, and CA rejected them 3 odd weeks ago, but that Fifield quote says to me that CA is free to reject the first FTA bids and then sell it to whoever, which uh, seems like a big change from how we've all thought this thing worked.
There was an explanation wasn't they? It was to do with coverage of woman's sportIf there’s a way for this government to interpret a law to screw over the punters, they’ll find it.
Fifield gave $30 million in govt money to Foxtel last year off the budget books without explanation. He’s a crook.
btw I believe this comes with some irony, as when the Murdoch's were circling around C10, it was feared this would be their plan. Buy the rights through C10 and sell the best parts to FoxtelI assume the line CA would give is that C7 did buy the rights to the ODI's and T20's, and C7 decided to sell them onto Foxtel, but everyone knows who the number 1 broadcast partner in this agreement is.
Pretty scandalous, if true.Apologies for linking to Dennis Does Cricket, but this is pretty ugly if true:

A quote from that article: "Let’s hope that in chasing that last penny, Cricket Australia haven’t driven a stake into the future growth of the game."Pretty scandalous, if true.
Vote 1 Stephen. This makes me sad.
"Got him! The last ball! Can you believe that!" By Bill has been going around for a lot longer than I realised. I'm going to miss it.
No more Richie farewelling us at the end of a test with "this has been another presentation from nine's wide world of sports" really makes me incredibly emotional. It's like he really is gone forever now.
Three truth is that cricket is too good and has too much history to be entrusted to the likes of Sutherland and co. It should be given national funding on the same level as schools and hospitals and given three dedicated fta tv channels with zero advertising.
Yeah this makes sense.I assume the line CA would give is that C7 did buy the rights to the ODI's and T20's, and C7 decided to sell them onto Foxtel, but everyone knows who the number 1 broadcast partner in this agreement is.
Hmm, not entirely convinced by that; seems like a PR puff piece for Channel 10 and excuse making for them more than anything. Like I said previously, if Channel 10 were so determined to revolutionise cricket coverage why did they initially do a joint bid with 9 and not just go for the whole rights themselves? They have so little going for them as a TV station atm that it seemed like a totally obvious move to become the cricket station and they muffed it.Apologies for linking to Dennis Does Cricket, but this is pretty ugly if true:
