Commenting on the squad to face India, NYSP Chairman Geoff Tamblyn said: “The squad to face India provides a great opportunity to all players selected to test their skills and performance against the reigning world champions at under-19 level.
“The squad contains some players who have had a little taste of first-class cricket in Australia and will provide those players and others with further experience.”
Commenting on the preliminary squad for the 2010 ICC Under-19 World Cup, NYSP Chair Geoff Tamblyn said: “Following the Cricket Australia National Under-17 and Under-19 Championships, recent talent camps at the Centre of Excellence and also taking into consideration the premier grade performances of each player, the Youth Selection Panel have selected a preliminary squad of 31 players for the 2010 ICC Under-19 World Cup.
“This group is an exceptionally talented squad who will further develop over next 12 months.
“I’m sure all the players are looking forward to honing their skills and being part of this preliminary squad.
“The squad contains some players who have tasted state cricket in Australia, one of the strongest domestic competitions in the world.
“New South Wales fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is again in the squad, following his experience of playing in last year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia, whilst Kane Richardson toured with the Australian Under-19 Team to Pakistan in 2007.”
The squad for the series against India will assemble in Hobart on Saturday 4 April.
