Funny that, because I distinctly remember being part of a full house when Bangladesh played at Old Trafford this summer - clearly the fans weren't interested there(!)

I am saying their importance in cricket. If Australians for example get less interested in Test cricket, bad news for world cricket.

Now thats a knee jerk reaction if ever I saw one. I remember the West Indies were once the best and well supported teams in the world then it all fell away. Certainly didn't end world cricket.

From memory, they didn't have a big say in international cricket, despite having a strong team and having a big fan base.

Ok guys been fun having this debate but where I live it is about 1:15 am and I am going to go to bed :happy:

I don't understand why world cricket is doomed if Australia has less of say in world cricket.

Because they won't have less of a say, that is the problem.

You can already see that we have abondened the 50 over game domestically and are increasing the size of our T20 competition. That is because we are getting less crowd at 50over games than T20 over ones, which are huge in comparison.

Just like when Packer made WSC, the rest of the world will follow us, for good or bad.
