There has been a clarification posted on ICF. He can run a 'flying' (ie. with a start), 40 yards in 4 seconds.
Since when was that a recognised unit of speed? Nobody compares speed this way. The numbers may however be now be possible.

A 40 time means a 40 time and that means how fast you run 40 m from start to finish.

This is scrambling to polish and try and shine the bull**** to try an hide the fact that it stinks.

Is this guy going to be in SA? I read that the Royals, and other teams, will only take squads of about 25, so some players will be left behind.

It would be very unfair on several 'slower' Indian pacers who have worked their way up hard, training long hours, domestic cricket for years and even some success for India A, while an unknown entity who has never played domestic cricket makes it ahead of all of them on the promise of pace. Let's see him play a match for Mumbai or Baroda first, before promoting him as the next great pace hope- rather, the existing options need to be consolidated, and a few discarded should be brought back.

If the guy really has express pace and does well in IPL,i do not see any reason why
he should not be in the team,Its a proffesional sport if somebody is better he will get selected .

Ultimately, to make the Indian team, the question should be asked- is he another Dale Steyn or Shaun Tait? Or Fidel Edwards or Lasith Malinga? Express pace put to good use? A whole lot of weird claims are made about him, but these four are proven successes as fast bowlers, so they should be the benchmark.

Why? both of them have done well in 1st season.
If Atul Sharma is really the new pace sensation, he should surely make the team ahead of one of these. Siddharth Trivedi is no more than a regular skiddy medium-pacer, while Munaf is only faster than medium-pace, can barely bat and can't field at all- a misfit in limited-overs cricket. Surely, someone touted as express pace can replace one of these.

Munaf bowls at 130-140 which is fast medium and can clock up to 143km/h i needed in
T20 Cricket and has a good yorker ,so he should play.

All four of them are a lot faster than most Indian bowlers, particularly those hyped as pace sensations. Besides, they can put that pace to good use, so they are examples to follow.

Cricinfo - Records - All cricket records (including minor cricket) - Bowling speeds (1)

Some curiosities:

- New bowlers not present - it'd be good if people could help update cricinfo with records from bowlers like Steyn, Malinga, Tait, etc. I know both Malinga and Steyn have broken the 150 mark, and Bond has on several occasions. Tait is in the same category as Lee and Chucktar, with regular spells over 150.
- The top 20 or so list is completely dominated by 2 bowlers.
- Jason Gillespie is very quick - about Waqar speed.
- Bowlers I used to think were medium-fast like Kallis, Ntini and McGrath are actually pretty damn fast and have bowled in the high 140s.
- Srinath was India's fastest bowler ever and still is - never knew he hit the 150 mark, almost.

YouTube - The Fast and Furious Shaun Tait

Someone inform cricinfo: Tait clocks in at 152.8 vs an NZ team chasing 283 (day should be easy to find). I'm sure he has done much faster before, but I can't find it on youtube.
There's this over from the first T20 at the MCG vs SA earlier in the year (was there )

Tait will bowl the second over.
1.1 Tait to Kallis, no run, that was 152 kmh! Kallis barely has time to duck under the bouncer, the ball was extremely close to the glove, it lobbed up to slip, it may have been off the glove!
1.2 Tait to Kallis, 1 leg bye, 155 kmh!! Kallis manages to work it off his pads behind square
1.3 Tait to de Villiers, OUT, de Villiers is in pain! And he's out! Tait bowls a short of a length ball at 155.6 kmh, de Villiers tries to pull but is beaten by the pace of the ball, it crashes into his hip off the bottom edge and he winces in pain, he loses balance as he moves back and the bat hits the stumps, he's in a lot of pain and he hobbles back to the dug out, I hope he isn't badly injured
AB de Villiers hit wicket b Tait 0 (4m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
1.4 Tait to Duminy, 1 leg bye, 151kmh, Duminy plays the ball off his pads behind square
1.5 Tait to Kallis, FOUR, Tait fires in a straight ball, it isn't that short but Kallis swivels and manages to pull the ball powerfully through square leg
1.6 Tait to Kallis, no run, 153.2 kmh, Kallis hits the full ball into the ground and it goes towards slip. Tait finishes a seriously fast over
