ATG 'Mixed Experience' Test XI - Draft

I guess Red Hill times-out. I'd go for Vijay Hazare.
This is the other batsman who I knew had played 30 Tests. I seriously considered him over Nourse as I always think of him as a Laxman type (or should it be laxman was a Hazare type). What do others think, Nourse or Hazare?

I'm going for Pistol Paul Reiffel. A very efficient bowler of line and length. When I was a kid I loved his accuracy and would emulate his runup. Looking back it now reminds me of Marshall's. He was never an easy wicket down the order either. Unlucky with selectors leaving him out for an extra batsman at times.
35 tests with a batting and bowling average of 26.

At first thought I was with you picking Nourse, but I'm back and forth between them. Both provided stability for their sides at number 4 I think? Home ground bully for Hazare perhaps

Nourse as a batsman. But there is not much though. Both are pioneers in their own away. Hazare can be a fifth option as a bowler. He bowled Bradman twice. I read Hazare had unusual grip and was not elegant. But mighty effective to fight it out against tough opposition and condition.

Didn't know Hazare got Bradman out. Inearly picked due to the added bowling, but couldn't remember just how good his bowling was, I don't think his bowling record was anything special.

Good to see that I'm high up in the next round too, so I definitely know who I'm going to pick already.

The not so bright guy that I am, it took me a while to get this. I did search the forum to see if someone by that name actually posts here.
Will get Zinzan's backside sometime in the future.

Surprised he's still available, so I'll nab England's Johnny Briggs (33 tests). Averaged 18 with the bat including a hundred and took 118 wickets @ an astonishing average of 17.75

I thought of picking him but then I have taken such 1890s and 1900s spinners before and everyone keeps saying how much their numbers are bloated due to uncovered wickets. Apparently, finger spinners become deadly on uncovered pitches.

This is true, but even so, he still has the 5th best average of all-time for bowlers taking >100 test wickets, plus had a higher batting average than bowling which is usually the sign of quality.

Tricky round. Was confused between a few good players but could not resist picking my 3rd seamer, Fazal Mahmood.

I think it's my turn to pick, at the commecement of round 3, so I'll pick one of the best early spinners Clarrie Grimmett, although I had a real dilemma between him and another pick.
