Asia cup 2022

Is this like the closest T20I tournament ever? It should be, right? Literally every result could have gone the other way just in the last overs alone.
Yeah, I agree. All the games have been fairly evenly contested, if you remove @cnerd123 's team from the mix. Could have gone either way.

Although the toss seems to have an outsized role in the results which kind of ruins it somewhat

Playing Hooda is fine but playing out of position when you have a specialist finisher sitting out is stupidity.

But our coach is the guy who selected a test team for IPL 1. ?‍♂
The team went on to play the final of the next with the players selected. All the new, fancy names that were added to the team did nothing. So that's also something worth nothing.

This must be ****ing amazing for Naseem though, hitting back to back sixes for your country in this kind of a situation is the kind of stuff you dream about. Hopefully the confidence he gets from here takes him to even greater heights.

Whatever it takes!!!

I mean IIRC they changed the captain and the coach, and brought in KP and a couple of Indian young batters. But yeah, if you ignore all the actual changes, it was the same team. :p

I am liking the ticker in Naseem, six months back he was dead and buried his bowling action was all over the place got lucky with couple of injuries that got him back in Test team vs Australia bowled well kept on making steady improvements managed to find a place in the LOI side and has done well.

He is still a work in progress bowling action still needs fine tuning but atleast has sown he has the mental fortitude and hunger to succeed at top level

When I told you guys he has a higher ceiling than couchface, this is why. There is just something intangible you can feel about how he goes about the game that feels like he can achieve greatness if he can keep his mind and body focussed.

I am hoping Hasnain is brought in to the test set up with his remodeled action. He can be an ideal 3 rd seamer for tests as he is tall hits the deck hard and bowl with pace looking at his record at FC level its nothing great but it's a small sample size but he's still young and has the raw skill set to be good in that format. If left on his own there is danger he will go Haris Rauf mode and become a T 20 leagues mercenary.

From an India PoV, we should play this side today and see where it takes us.

Rohit
Rahul
Virat
Pant
Hooda
DK
Axar
D Chahar
Bhuvi
Bishnoi
Arshdeep

Right now, our ideal T20I side for Australian conditions would be, IMO.......

Rohit
Rahul / Pant
Virat
SKY
Hardik
DK
Axar
D Chahar / Harshal
Bhuvi
Bumrah
Chahal / Bishnoi

I would prefer Pant, D Chahar and Bishnoi because then we will have a bowling attack where any of our 6 bowlers can bowl in the PP and all the seamers can bowl at the death which are important and crucial options to have as a bowling side. I also think Pant is a better bet as a Jayasuriya/Greatbatch style opener than Rahul for those conditions. Rohit has anyways shown that he is more open to playing his shots first up. Virat can be the one to hold the innings together. SKY I still think is the best #4 in T20Is in the world and then we have some allrounders. Jaddu missing is a big setback but I dont see him getting fit for the WT20 now.

Does Asif Ali have the best six/ball ratio in T 20 cricket history?

I can't seem to remember even Afridi being such as easy six hitter, he's still terrible though.

Why tf did you just randomly drop sky and pandya from the first 11 named?

Doesn't KL Rahul feel a little ashamed showing off his strokeplay in dead matches?

Oh I see he was little better than his usual tortoise self for the first thirty balls. Useless ****

I suppose this shambolic tournament went alright if it means Kohli's recovered his game for good. Looks imperious tonight.
