Ashes XIs - 2025/26

Renshaw where?
I forgot. Amended it as such.

Keeping Harris in as a speculator. I'm not saying Andrew McDonald is stupid, but he does have him in the current squad so he can't be that intelligent.

We won our most recent tour that was played under fair conditions.

13-14 - unreasonable back to back series and Mitchell Johnson clearly replaced by some sort of alien imposyer
17-18 - ball tampering
21-22 - Covid restrictions

Basic facts and you know it
They all know it just can't admit the truth.

@Gnske You think Teague Wylie has a good chance of making the squad? That'd be a hell of a bolter, but I think it's semi-realistic with him being a red ball specialist
Campus Kellaway is a better prospect then Wyllie IMO, if either play test cricket Kellaway will be the first off the production line.

School Boy/Girl Captain
Max Harris ?

I'd go for

1. Will Jacks
2. Duckett
3. Pope
4. Root
5. Brook
6. Bairstow
7. Stokes
8. Rehan Ahmed
9. Robinson
10. Sam Cook
11. Anderson :)

Aggressive openers.
Best middle order (pope, root, brook, bairsow, stokes)
Can bat till number 9.
4 seamers, 2 spinners (+root)

It's rather remarkable these dates are even bought up never mind wanting to share facts from an English point of view.
The most straight forward fact is that 15 tests have been played and that it rained enough on 2 occasions to force a draw.
Played 15 Australia 13 Drawn 2 England 0 (yes that's correct, zero) that's ****ing embarrassing.

Too early to make a definitive call imo. You may well end up being right, but neither have played enough yet for me to confidently predict future career trajectories

Both players who I am very interested to see how they develop over the next couple of years

England are SL level tourists here these days. Abject.
Lets be real every team is an awful tourist here these days. Last 10 years only India and SA have won tests here and we’ve all seen SA’s new level of excellence.

There's no doubt that at home Australia are a powerhouse and we've put up some embarrassing performances.

But for all our shortcomings and for all the talk of how great the Aussies are, you can't beat us at home and I dont see that changing this summer.

We won't dish out the sort of hammering we've suffered in Oz but in English conditions more often than not, we're the better side.

All very true.....and despite the hammerings we've endured we have managed to beat them in Aus while @trundler has been alive......the same can't be said for them in his lifetime.

22 ****ing years!
